Baseball lost one of its greatest fans with the passing of Michael Baron Hutson on December 15th, 2024, in Cobourg, Ontario at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of Carole and a loving father to Kendall and Rochelle, father-in-law to Colin Robinson and Steve Hayr. Michael was a cherished grandfather to Jack, Charlie, and Zoe, and a step-grandfather to Jordan and Gemma Hayr.
Michael had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, from the age of nine selling newspapers and Christmas cards in Toronto. He went on to become the National Sales Manager of Royal Doulton Canada, where he worked for nearly 30 years, followed by owning a successful retail sports business. Michael's focus was always on his family. He was full of optimism with a steadying presence, often reminding the family that ‘the best is yet to come’!
After moving to Cobourg, Ontario, Michael enjoyed his beautiful garden and spent his retirement years surrounded by the love of his family and friends and the tranquility of his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Thursday, January 2nd, from 1 – 4 pm, with words of remembrance at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please initiate a random act of kindness in Michael's memory.
Carole, Kendall, Rochelle and your families, there is no doubt that there will be many random acts of kindness in the months to come because of Michael. The sheer volume of goodness that he and you, his family have created, will go a long way to making this funny old world a better place. We can imagine the hole his death has left in your lives and offer our deepest sympathies. Kristin and Craig
Dear Rochelle, Kendall, Carole & family, So sorry to learn of the loss of Michael. Sending love and the warmest of hugs to you all, from Australia. I’m thinking of you all each day. Take care & go gently with yourselves in this difficult time. Love Monique & family. xx
Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Michael was a great man who loved his family. I'm sure he is proud of all of you. He will be greatly missed. One thing that I will carry with me well into the future is his marinade for pork tenderloin. Any time I serve it to friends, they rave about it. I give credit where credit is due and tell them that it's my Uncle Mike's marinade recipe. May your memories continue to comfort you and surround you like a warm hug.
Carole, Kendall and Rochelle, my thoughts and prayers are with you on this very sad situation. He was such a great guy. Fond memories will always be with you forever. Condolences to the whole family. Fiona

My sincere sympathies Carole on your loss of your treasured Michael whom I know you have looked after with so much dedication during his last failing years. To lose one's companion, soul mate, father of your children and the one with whom you had so many experiences, shared so many joys, overcome so many challenges is always hard and especially so when they leave us at such a special family time. I hope that you will be able to recall many fond memories of all you shared whenever you feel Michael's absence and that you will lean on all the friends you have made in our wonderful community for help and support when family members are not nearby. Do take sometime for yourself now to pamper and care for yourself as you did Michael through his health challenges. My condolences to your and your family.
