It is with heavy hearts that the family of June Roslyn Grace Mallory (née Watkins) announces her unexpected passing from lung disease on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 85. June was the brightest light, shining on all those who had the privilege to know and love her. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
June was the beloved wife of Carroll Mallory, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Tony (Heather) Barrett, Bob (Diana) Barrett, and Beth (John) Garland. Affectionately known by all as “Gramma June,” she took immense pride in this title, earned through her love and dedication to her wonderful grandchildren.
She was the cherished Gramma June of Andrew Barrett (Becca), Amanda (Scott) Thurston, Matthew Garland (Jennifer), Ryan Barrett, Julie Barrett (Bo), and Morgan Garland (Tommy). She was also an exceptionally proud great-Gramma June to Jocelynn (Eric), Jaedynn (Tyler), Jordynn, Ethan, and Aria.
When June and Carroll married, her family expanded, giving her the opportunity to become a stepmother. However, she was far better known as a wonderful and loved friend to Garth (Nancy) Mallory and family, Steve (Cheryl) Mallory and family, Gwen (Bob) Kocher and family, and Richard Mallory (Larry).
June is predeceased by her brothers Eugene Watkins and Reg Watkins and will be dearly missed by her sisters-in-law Marie Watkins and Gwen Watkins.
June was an exceptional woman with a zest for life. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be profoundly missed by her many dear friends and her community.
It is difficult to sum up Gramma June in just a few words. Her days were always filled with social gatherings, community activities, and family events. Desserts were made in abundance, and her “Gramma spoiling” was felt by all who knew her. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great pride in keeping up with everyone on Facebook.
June was present at every important event, from school assemblies to horse shows and skating competitions, always cheering her loved ones on. Always in tow was her quilting and crocheting to keep busy wherever she went. She played an active role in organizing the social club at her church, red hat, and in her new condo community, leaving a lasting impact wherever she went.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, ON, followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre afterward to share stories of June, laugh, cry, and remember the most wonderful woman.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of June, especially since I saw her recently at my great uncle’s funeral (I was happy to see her and reconnect with her after a few years). Sadly, I was unable to make the Visitation yesterday, but I was thinking of June fondly. I was introduced to her through the Grafton United Church. She was such a force of nature and I liked her right away. She was a great friend to me for a time and I will miss her dearly.

June was always very kind to me. As youngsters, her son Bob and I spent a lot of time together, and we would have caused her some serious eye rolling. She certainly took it in stride, and when we were ready for a break from our activities, she would prepare hot drinks and snacks, and share cheerful conversation with us. I assume she knew that we 13 year olds had been driving the old pickup truck around her horse corral all morning, and that the noise recently emanating from Bob's room, was in fact a model airplane engine that was running on our latest attempt to blend our own home brewed inexpensive fuel, but she always seemed to let it roll off with: "Are you boys having fun?" While I've lived my adult life some distance away, my occasional meetings with her over the years have always been a delight, and June will be missed by everyone.

Our sympathies to June and Carroll s family. June was one of the first person to welcome us in the condo building with her cookies and a smile. She always hosted teas , organized social dinners in the building , bringing everyone together. She was very active in volunteer work and I often brought her supplies for her group - Helping Hands- which always ended with a cup of tea and good conversation. We will miss her smile and joy of life.

I'm so sorry to hear of June's passing. Your many memories will help you through this difficult time.
My first meeting with June was at a service of the United Church. My husband was preaching there as part of his program to become a licensed lay worship leader. Instantly, I had found a friend. June was absolutely outstanding as a thinker and dooer. Her compassion was a valuable jewel in her movement towards others to help them, hear them, and reassure them. I valued her friendship so very much, We will miss her. My condolences to her family. Save a chair for us, June, we'll be seeing you. Love you forever.

My love and prayers are with June’s family today and with all the many who were privileged as I was to call June my friend. June was also my third cousin and our first cousin Kinsman grandmas shared a home in their later years. From double dates in our teen years, play days with our kids and shared birthday dates with Viv in our later years, June will forever remain in my fondest memories.
Our deepest sympathies to Carroll and family. June was an incredible inspiration and leader for her condo community. The ever-ready Bunny always full of joy. She will be deeply missed by all. (we will miss the Plates of Cookies and Easter Baskets left at our doors)
Being the new kid on the block in June’s Condo community it didn’t take long for me to claim June as one of my dear friends. We were not moved in very long and she landed at our door with some of her yummy cookies which ended up arriving quite frequently. Our social events here were always made more fun when June attended and helped organize. I and everyone one of her Heritage Estate family will truly miss her. My condolences to all of her family. I shall think of her when ever I wear purple.
