It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Harford after a courageous battle with cancer at Northumberland Hills Hospital at 85 years old.
Survived by his wife, Peggy Hartford (Palmateer) who he celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. Loving father of Wayne Hartford, Ron Hartford and Judy (Chris) Chidley. Cherished Grandpa of Kyle Chidley and the late Jacob Chidley.
Dear brother of Jim (Ida), Reta (Joe), Vince (Margaret), Lois (the late Bill). Predeceased by William (Annie), Ken, Glenn (Audrey), Larry and Laverne (Sharlene).
Lorne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid yard sale patron. His warm smile, gentle nature and big heart will always be remembered. He enjoyed spending time in his garage where friends would stop by for a visit.
Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at NHH.
A Celebration of Life will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King Street East, Cobourg on December 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dear Peggy, Wayne, Ron and Judy, We have so many good memories of Lorne quietly arriving to paint a room for us. He was so good at covering every inch of the wall not a speck of paint on the ground a true tradesmen. He quietly went about the job at hand with a big smile and a kind word about something happening in the community. He was so proud of his family and all the things they were doing. It was a pleasure to have known him. He certainly will be missed by our family. Kym and Brian Read

The Davis Family, formerly of Colborne, was saddened to hear this news. While I did not know Lorne, his mother Pearl and I worked together with my late Uncle Victor and Aunt Hazel Davis in the tomato fields, and Lorne's brother, Vince, also picked crates of tomatoes for my uncle. My cousin knew of Vince at General Motors. Our condolences.
