I would like to say that Karen was a delight to deal with whenever I crossed her path. As Mr. Hustler stated below it was sometimes under stressful conditions that people attend the law office and I concur that Karen’s beautiful smile and witty sense of humour made the experience easier. I was saddened to hear of Karen's passing. I knew her as Karen Caffin and worked with her many years ago at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She was a very kind, caring and patient addition to our Nursery/Church school program. She will be missed.

Mrs. Caffin, Bill, Amanda and Jennifer, Linda and I were deeply saddened to hear of Karen's passing. From the day, about forty years ago, that Vito Targon and I interviewed Karen for the receptionist position at Targon & Hustler, two attributes stood out that will always be remembered: her friendly, warm smile and her sense of humour. Over the years Karen welcomed the clients of Vito, Greg Kay, Janet Halliday, Linda Lyons, Richard and Jim Irvine, Kady McCourt, Nadim Kurji and me. As can be imagined, people attending a lawyer's office are often under considerable stress and nervous apprehension. Karen was the perfect antidote. She would start with her warm, almost shy, smile and move ahead with friendly banter that went a long way toward calming stress and soothing apprehension. Karen had the uncanny ability to assess a client's tensions as soon as the client came to her desk. Karen also had a great sense of humour and, if a client told a funny story the punch-line would be greeted with Karen's unrestrained laughter. The was no governor on Karen's laughter, if it was funny, she laughed ... and then she laughed some more! In reading the many condolences extended to you it is very clear that the impact Karen had on her working friends was mirrored in her friendships away from the office. All saw her for what she was: a wonderful, empathetic person with a warm and beautiful smile and a wicked sense of humour. Peter Hustler
