It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Arthur Jones on November 12, 2024 at the age of 77.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra of 52 years. Cherished father to Jennifer and Brent. Uncle to many nieces and nephews and cousin to many. Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Myrtle Jones, brothers Lynn (Nancy) and Terry and brother to surviving sister, Yvonne Smith (Wayne). Predeceased by his in-laws Meredith and Dorothy Amm.
The eldest of 4 children, from the time he was able to walk, Wayne was on a tractor, farming in some capacity with family on the family farm in Castleton. He married Sandra in 1969 and raised their two children. Along with farming, Wayne spent 44 years at General Foods (Kraft) in Cobourg. He had many fond memories of some of the stunts he and his fellow workers managed to pull off throughout the years and had great respect and admiration for his father-in-law Murray, a WWII veteran. He spent a lot of time at the Warkworth Farm Supply and would often bring the staff a large container of fries after visiting the Highway 30 chip truck. He loved his family and his critters, cattle, horses, cats and dogs, the land, and the life he had made. He was a gentle soul, patient, kind and often quiet. As a gifted Water Witcher, Wayne helped several people in the surrounding Northumberland County locate wells. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 187 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
"To one of the strongest men I have ever known" - love Brent.
