Patricia Healy Lycett, age 87, of Orono and Bowmanville, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario, on November 8, 2024, one month after suffering a stroke.
Born on February 15, 1937, in Hagersville, Ontario, Patricia was the daughter of James Michael Hogan and Edith Belva Clark. She was raised with her sister, Shirley. After graduating in 1959, Patricia and Fred had three children: Ben, Matt, and Jed Irwin.
In 1984, Patricia married W. Kay Lycett of Orono, who had four children: Kathie, Tom, Waryn, and Robin Lycett.
Patricia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kay Lycett, in 2017. She is survived by her seven children, many grandchildren, and one great-grandchild from her two marriages. She will be fondly remembered by: Ben and his wife Jane and children Emma, Keara and Cale. Mathew and his wife Tracy and children Sebastian and Jake. Jed and his wife Susan and their children Cassondra (and her child Jack), Noah and Holly. Tom and Heidi. Kathie and her son Jordie. Waryn and his wife Andrea and children Avyn and Brahm. Robin and his children Claire and Carter.
During retirement, Patricia and Kay enjoyed wintering in Barbados and cherished hosting family gatherings. They made every effort to attend significant family events such as their grandchildren’s birthdays, soccer games, and dance recitals.
After moving to Orono in 1976, Patricia worked for several years as an ER nurse. She later transitioned into a successful career as a real estate agent, eventually co-owning a successful Remax real estate franchise in Bowmanville. She was an active and committed member of the Orono and Bowmanville communities and had a strong sense of service, always eager to help others.
In addition to her career in nursing, Patricia had a deep passion for healing, both physically and spiritually. She was an advocate of holistic practices, including homeopathy, naturopathy, and nutrition.
Finally, many thanks to the staff at Chartwell Bowmanville Creek for making mother’s final years comfortable and enjoyable.
A celebration of life will be held at the Orono Town Hall at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
