After a brief and sudden illness, the family of Belinda Diane Sherwin (nee Gallant) announce her peaceful passing at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care at the age of 68. Daughter of the late Jim and Lois Gallant and beloved wife and life partner to Brad Sherwin who she shared 40 years of marriage. Cherished mom to Chris (Kelly) Sherwin and Danielle (Dan) Roberts. Loved and proud Nana to her grandchildren Aidan (Hannah) Sherwin, Caleb Sherwin, Avery Sherwin, Leah Sherwin, and Adalynn Roberts. In February, Belinda would be celebrating the arrival of her first great-granddaughter. While she may not be here in the way she desperately wanted, she will be celebrating this happy time as a guardian angel. There in spirit, surrounding her family in love.
Belinda will be deeply missed by her siblings Ken (Adele) Gallant, Joe (Mary-Anne) Gallant as well as her brothers-in-law Paul (Judy) Sherwin and Bruce (Lynne) Sherwin. She is going to be dearly missed by Ruth Gouin (long-time partner of the late Jim Gallant), who is better known as “Gramma Ruth” and one of Belinda’s most cherished friends. Loved Aunt to Alisha (Aaron) Djekic, Alexandra (Curtis) Gallant, Scott (Jenny) Gallant, Jacob (Jenna) Gallant, Bryan (Krista) Sherwin and Trevor (Crystal) Sherwin.
Belinda was a kind gentle soul who only wished to help others. To that end she became a proud, 13 year member of the Cobourg Lions Club, whose motto is “We Serve”. Her commitment to the club allowed her to form many new lifelong friendships which she considered to be like a second family.
Belinda had a deep love for her family and was always happiest when everyone came together for celebrations. Her greatest joy was watching her children grow up. She became a dedicated hockey/baseball/figure skating/dance mom. Her time with the Boy Scout troop earned her the nickname “Bubbles”, reflective of her outgoing, bubbly, personality. She eventually saw her children have children of their own. The grandchildren provided an irresistible spoil-fest to compliment her loving, giving nature.
The family would like to recognize the outstanding care from the nurses and staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital and the exceptional care received at Ed’s House Hospice Care in her final days. Belinda will be forever grateful for the caring individuals that went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and well taken care of.
A celebration of Belinda’s life well lived will be held Sunday, October 27th, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Cobourg Lion’s Centre. A private family service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre or the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
After meeting Chris in high school, I had the pleasure of getting to know Belinda while spending time at the Sherwin home. She always made me feel like family, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I looked forward to our chats whenever I visited Thomas', the mere mention of her name at the Lion's centre brought a smile to everyone's face. Belinda's caring and helpful nature touched everyone around her, and those qualities live on in her son. My heart goes out to the entire Sherwin family during this difficult time. She will be missed.

Belinda and I shared a friendship since high school and always laughed over the fact that Brad and I shared the same birthday. She was unable to get around very much and we kept up our FB friendship. Belinda was never down and seldom complained about anything and I always loved seeing any message coming from her. It could be naughty or nice,one never knew. I have known Belinda for a long time. My mom worked with her, then my parents both became friends with her through the Lion's. I saw her regularly when she was a receptionist at my chiropractor and she would watch my son behind the desk when he was a baby. She was a great woman and will be missed!

I worked along side Belinda at the chiropractic office. Her energy and positivity was infectious! She loved her family so much, we had many chats about the grandkids and how much she loved them. She will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to Belinda's family. Logiclly, I know Belinda is at peace. Still I wait to hear from her. I'm still expecting a phone call suggesting we do something together, (movie, lunch, etc.) One thing I will always remember about Belinda is she always talked about her love for her family. I'd often hear her say love you Brad. At the end of our phone calls she say to me bye, love you. Her kindness and willingness to give never went unnoticed. Yet she was humble. So very sorry for the loss of such a wonderful woman, who I had the pleasure of attending school with back in the early 2000’s in the Business Administration course. Belinda and I have been best friends since high school (54 years). We went to Florida together and Prom. Growing up she was my maid of honour where she dated Brad who later she married. We watched our children grow up together. We both had birthdays in December of course she reminded me I was older by 14 days. We’d laugh about that. She was my dearest friend I’ll never forget and will miss her calls and visits. RIP my beautiful friend. ❤️
