Loved sister to Doris (the late George) and Marilyn (the late George). Cherished Aunt to Andy (Doreen), Nancy (Gary), and Bill.
In November 1929, Gladys was born in Midland Ontario, but shorty after, her family moved to Grafton, Ontario. Her father, Roy Bone, worked at the train station in Grafton and it was there where she grew up. As a young lady in the 1940’s, she met her first husband Jack Bell, a young man serving in the Army. They fell in love and got married. The reception for their wedding was, in fact, held at the train station. While life at the time seemed perfect, it would drastically change with heartache at the loss of Jack, suddenly and unexpectedly. This was a dark time in Gladys’s world. She had to work through the heartache and loss while still providing for herself. Later down the line, during a work function, Gladys came across a handsome fellow, by the name of Albert Stone. In the moment she received a bout of unexpected courage and asked him to the Office Christmas Party. He was honoured to go with her. They fell in love. Albert had also lost his wife and the two were able to create a new and wonderful family life together. In 2011, Gladys would, once again, be forced to go through the pain of losing her love when Albert passed away. She was strong and resilient and through it all she continued to live and enjoy life. In later years, when her life slowed down, Gladys spent her time enjoying the little things in life. She often spent time in her flower beds, and truly enjoyed watching her bird feeders being used by both birds and squirrels. That was her entertainment, many times through the day. Her favourite time of the year was the Fall, when she could get in the car and enjoy drives through the country, admiring the changing leaves.,
Gladys will be remembered by all for her beautiful smile and her wonderful sense of humour. A Celebration of this wonderful lady’s life will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre 30 King Street East, Cobourg, Ontario from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. If desired donations may be made to the Diabetes Canada.

Gladys always brought joy everytime we saw her. A hilarious story about my mom or grandmother, or one of her “gladys-ism”. My daughter always enjoyed a chat whenever I called to talk to Gladys. We will miss her.
Sue, and all those who loved Gladys, my heartfelt condolences on the loss of a very special lady. I was one of the fortunate ones that met Gladys while working at General Wire & Cable, now Belden, and developed a life long friendship. I will cherish my memories of her laughter, and the lunches and visits Pat Clayton and I shared with her over the years. But most of all her wonderful sense of humour and the funny, sarcastic Birthday cards she would send to me - the more sarcastic the better. I will miss you dear friend, but I know you are back in the arms of your beloved Jack and Bert, and resting peacefully.

We are so pleased to have met Gladys and made some wonderful memories with her and her family. She had an amazing sense of humour. She was easy to please and always interested in what was happening in our lives. We were blessed to have shared camping memories and tea parties together. We will raise a cup of tea to Gladys at our next gathering. The story of her life shared here was a treasured glimpse into a life well lived. RIP Gladys

Sending condolences to all Gladys’s family. We moved in next door to Gladys years ago and a lifelong friendship began. Her first reaction when we were moving next door was “oh no, how many kids do these people have”. She teased us about that every time she saw us. Grateful for having some nice visits with her, she was always happy to see us. A life well lived.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Gladys was a dynamic and positive lady, always smiling and with a ready laugh. I worked with Gladys for many years at General Wire/Belden and you could always count on Gladys for her good cheer and friendliness. May she rest in eternal peace and be reunited with all her loved ones and friends who have gone before her.
Dear family, so sorry to hear of Gladys‘s passing. I lived not far from Gladys in Cobourg‘s West End growing up and then had the honour and privilege of working with her at General Wire and Cable and now Beldon. Lots of great memories, but the best one was the day of her retirement when we had a limo pick us up for lunch, take us to McDonald’s through the drive-through and sit at the Cobourg Harbour and enjoy. Rest in peace Gladys.
My deepest condolences on your loss of this wonderful lady.
