It is with heavy hearts the family of Cathy Collacott-Tayler announce her peaceful passing at Northumberland Hills Hospital Friday, September 20, 2024 at the age of 69. Cathy fought a fierce and courageous battle with MS for many years and she passed on her own terms, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and deeply loved friend to so many. To lose such a strong and resilient person, such as Cathy weighs heavy. However, there is so much peace in knowing there is no more pain and she is free in the universe. Cathy is pre-deceased by her husband Ken Tayler. Loved mother to Matt (Tiffany Moore) Collacott. Proud and devoted Nana to Maxwell Collacott. In Cathy’s younger years she met and married Jim Collacott. Together they had their son Matt whom they were both immensely proud of. In later years Cathy and Jim decided to part ways but continued a great friendship. Cathy is the sister of Patricia Davis. She will be deeply missed by her many many friends and family including those within her rodeo family and her family in New York. She loved deeply and you did not need to be blood related to be considered her family.
From a young age, Cathy knew her passion in life was horses. She spent decades perfecting her western barrel racing and immersed herself into the world of western riding. Her many years of practice and dedication made her into a very successful western rider. She was also the owner of Cathy’s Gold Jewelry in Bowmanville for 25 years. Many will remember this store being on a pillar on King Street. Cathy was known for an extraverted life style. She and Ken spent many years travelling back and forth, making friends wherever they went. For around 10 years Cathy struggled with her battle of MS. Although, many never knew how much pain she was truly in. She would never let on how sick she was and how tired of fighting she had become. Her life came to a dark point where she was ready to quit. Until, the birth of her grandson Maxwell. This gave Cathy so much light and happiness and even though she didn’t get as much time with him as she would have liked, her final year and a half on this Earth shone so much brighter and gave her so much more hope.
As per Cathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Remember her as she was, happy, full of light and loved. She is Heaven with Rocky and Squeak, who will once again feel the wind in their mane's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund for her grandson, Maxwell. Donations can be made to mattcollacott@gmail.com
