It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Edna (Eddy) Johnson.
After a brief, but courageous battle with cancer, she died peacefully with her family by her side at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, ON.
Adored wife, coordinator of adventures, and partner in life of husband Ron Johnson. Cherished mother, teacher and friend of Stacy-Jo Johnson (Ben Simonsen), Dawn Niemi (nee Johnson), and her late son Trevor Johnson.
Eddy absolutely treasured her four grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be missed by Katie Johnson, Jackson, Calvin and George Niemi.
Eddy was one of twelve children of the late George and Rosalie Brideau of Bathurst, NB. She was predeceased by her brothers Gerard and Nelson, and sisters Evelyn (Yvon) Boudreau and Tina (Bob Bell) Brideau.
She will lovingly be remembered by siblings Marie (late Pat) Frenette, Andrew (late Phyllis) Brideau, Blanche (late Pat) Bowen, Roy (Sherry) Brideau, Jackie (Danny) Frenette, Theresa (Gerard) Roy, Edward (Mona) Brideau, along with a great many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Monday, August 19th from 6-8 pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home - 30 King Street East, Cobourg.
Mass will be held Tuesday, August 20th from 10-11 am at St. Michael’s Parish - 379 Division Street, Cobourg followed by a Celebration of Life from 11-2 pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home.
A private interment will be held.
The Johnson family would like to express their appreciation for the tremendous efforts of the incredible team from the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, and their deep gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion of the Palliative Care staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital.

My sympathies! I never knew Edna; however, heard the name quite often from my mother Raymonde Hachey (Roy) especially when Edna would coms to visit in Robertville. I don’t know if my mother knows yet. She will be devastated as Edna was a real special friend to her throughout the years. They always seemed to have a special connection.

When I think of Eddy I think of a beautiful, positive, energetic, and adventurous woman. Strongly protective of her family, fiercely proud, and full of love for them. I was blessed to have met her in Florida only to find out that we lived so close (Cobourg / Kingston). Being able to still connect during the summer when she would make her way here. God called her home so that she can now be an Angel for all of us. Thank you Eddy for being a friend. To the Johnson Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. She was a Force of Nature. She will be missed.

Eddy was an inspiration to all people she surrounded, no matter where. Her energy, positivity and sense of humour were infectious. I surely will miss our fun times on the golf course and our delightful meals with BJ at Thai Sushi.
