Shirley Dawn Desrochers

April 11, 1941 - July 31, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our lovely mother Shirley Desrochers on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at the age of 83. Shirley was battling dementia for several years. Her last four years she was graciously taken care of at Extendicare Cobourg where she passed away peacefully. Our gratefulness goes out to all the staff in the Birch wing at Extendicare.

Shirley will be deeply missed and remembered by her children Marcel (Chilian) Michelle (Chris King). Her grandchildren Brady, Dawson, Bailey and Rachel. She was predeceased by her brothers Guy, Larry, Henry and predeceased by sister Rose-Anne. She will be sadly missed by her youngest sister Sharon (Hans). She will also be deeply missed by her mother-in-law Marie Jean Pratt. As well as her sister-in laws Bonnie and Phyliss any many nieces, nephews and friends who will dearly miss Shirley.

Shirley married the late Raymond Desrochers on Dec 6, 1975, in Orangeville Ontario and together they raised Raymonds two children Marcel and Michelle. They lived in many different houses over the years which Shirley loved to decorate.

Shirley worked at Lasco Steel for almost 30 years in the Human Relations Department. She was very admired, well liked and made lifelong friendships. After retirement Shirley and Ray started a little business together called Shiray’s Treasures. They enjoyed selling jewelry and attending many vendors shows. Shirley was also involved in Beta Sigma Phi and Laureate Epsilon Zeta where she made some wonderful friendships.

Shirley’s past times were camping, traveling, enjoying her garden, dogs, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, graciousness and for her compassion for her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., E., Cobourg on Friday August 9th from 1-2 pm., followed by a service at 2 pm. Interment on Saturday August 10th at All Saints Anglican Cemetery Huntsville.

It is with regret that we heard of the passing of Shirley. We have known Shirley since she met Ray. Although through the years we have not visited often, we have always treasured their friendship. Shirley was a wonderful wife to Ray and a really great mother to Marcel and Michelle. They were fortunate to have her in their lives. Our sincerest condolences to Marcel and Michelle and families. Our dear Aunt Shirley lit up our lives with her style, her deep love of family, and her passion for creativity and enjoying life. She touched the lives of everyone she encountered and will always be remembered so fondly and was loved immensely. I was blessed to be able to tell her so in her final days and know she will rest in the peace that she deserves. ?️ Much love to cousin's, Michelle and Marcel. Sending warm thoughts from Whistler, BC.

Shirley was a member of my Sorority Chapter for many years and was affectionately known as "our" Martha Stewart for her flair in entertaining and we have many wonderful memories of times spent together with both Shirley and Ray. On behalf of the members of Laureate Epsilon Zeta our heartfelt sympathy goes to Shirley's family.
