Passed peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, in his 85th year surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Karen (nee Simpson). Loving father of Philip (Sherry), Kathy (Ken), Michael (Lisa), Robert, Chris and April (the late Drew McIvor). Cherished grandfather of Sarah (Jeremy), Mary, the late Daniel, Chance (Rickellie), Skye, Joshua (Grace), Natasha (Mike) and Cassidy (Jangchup). Great-grandfather of Holly, Faye, Arthur, Damien and Leila. Dear brother of Rick (Betty), Janet (Len), David (Mary) and the late Dennis. He was the eldest son of the late John (Jack) and the late Marjorie Beaver (nee Marsden).
Wayne’s contributions and the legacy he leaves are far-reaching and too numerous to name. He was a devoted family man who was passionate about Indigenous issues and who loved his community of Alderville First Nation. Wayne assisted numerous people over the years and advocated for their needs, including helping to ensure First Nation Veterans were honoured and properly compensated for their service. Wayne’s intellect, sense of humour, gift of storytelling, and welcoming presence were well known and appreciated.
Wayne will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all of his extended family and community members.
Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 1 – 3 p.m. in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre (30 King St. East., Cobourg).

Thoughts are with the Beaver Family; Wayne was a well respected member of the community, we will miss him.
It’s sad to lose a member and an important contributor to the betterment of Alderville’s members. After retiring from his successful insurance business in Toronto, Wayne worked diligently to ensure that Indigenous Veterans across Canada were finally recognized for their contribution to Canada’s war effort. He worked to give the declining Indian status issue a national profile and made major contribution to the self government initiatives and Williams treaties to name a few. A life well lived.

Sending my sincere condolences on the loss of Wayne. I’m sorry to the family, and unfortunately because I am in the Northwest Territories I will not be in Alderville on Thursday, but please know I will be thinking of you all.
We’ve talked a lot about the legacy Wayne leaves. And the impact he had. He was such a great storyteller. A great mentor and friend to my Dad. As a young journalist, I remember many chats with him about our veterans and the Williams Treaties. I had the honour of dancing for him & the family at the pow wow. Sending my love to everyone. Very sorry to read about Wayne's passing. He was a kind father, wise leader and I recall all his efforts in the indigenous community. I fondly remember Christmas in his home with the family. Blessings to the family, and friends, may your happy memories him keep him alive in your hearts.
I knew wayne for only a brief period of time and in that time he left a lasting impression on me from the numerous games of crokinole to the chats we had in between you were a very kind soul you’ll be greatly missed may you be the best crokinole player wherever you go Andrew
