I worked with Alex in Montreal during Xpo 67 he was accountant at the time and I was his assistant this was at the main branch. We worked well together and I was very sorry to see him go to Toronto.

Alex was the person who invited me to leave Halifax and join him in Inspection Division. I accepted and in 1984 I becme a resident of Ontario. I have never regretted the decision to join him. While work was work, Gladys and I considered Ruth and Alex good friends. We frequently exchanged telephone calls, emails and Christmas cards. Gladys and I will miss the contact and conversations. With sincere regret, I will not be able to attend Alex's visitation or funeral service. I write this to express my appreciation for having been a small part of Alex's life as a member of Inspection Division which Alex ably headed. Alex was fair in his dealings, an empathetic and compassionate man at work and I always looked for him at CIBC's golf tournaments. after both our retirements; conversing with him in his affable style was pleasurable indeed. Alex was my boss at CIBC, a person of deep integrity and wisdom. He was certainly the most organized and meticulous person I have ever encountered in my career. He was a firm believer in a disciplined approach and a rule based system and endeavoured to be always fair and even handed in all things. His sense of humour was infectious and his determined commitment to fairness and equality was there for all to see. In life we do not often come across people like Alex who indelibly impact your life for good. I always remember Alex with gratitude. My sincere condolences to his wife and family so dear to him.
