Beloved wife of 40 years to David, mom to Kara (David) Eckmier and Lindy (Ben) Scholten and grandmother to Hudson, James, Georgia, and Luke, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away following a hemorrhagic stroke on May 26, 2024. She was the dearly loved daughter of Jean Evers (Elmer) Martin, sister of Pat (Phil) Weiler, and much loved step-sister, cousin, niece, aunt, friend, mentor, and honorary mother to many.
Connie was born to Jean and Elmer Evers on April 28, 1955 in Kitchener, ON. After graduating highschool, she attended Eastern Pentecostal Bible College and then began her lifelong vocation of using her administrative giftings to support ministry. Through the years she served at the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada district and head offices, multiple churches, including 19 years at Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, and abroad in Kenya, Malawi, and Tanzania. After returning to Canada in 2019, she joined the member care team at Mission Aviation Fellowship, where she took great joy in using the skills and experiences from her time overseas to serve others. Connie was a capable administrator whose work was marked by her love for people and commitment to her faith.
Connie and David married in 1984, first living in Vancouver, BC and then settling in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, where their two daughters, Kara and Lindy, were born. Connie was an incredible mother to her girls and wife to David. She was promoted to grandmotherhood in 2014. She took delight in being Grandma to Hudson, James, Georgia, and Luke, and was never happier than when she was baking, playing Uno Flip, or FaceTiming with her grandkids. Connie modelled selfless love, trust in Jesus, and a knack for finding the fun in any situation.
Connie leaves an incredible legacy of faith and of deep friendship with her family and friends. She was well known for her welcoming smile, her care for others (often expressed through food and hospitality), and her persistent optimism and trust in the faithfulness of God. Her favourite scripture was Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” She lived this out consistently in the small and the large things of life.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2 pm at one of Connie’s favourite places, Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp: 1405 Pentecostal Road, Cobourg, ON in the Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Connie’s honour to The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, Mission Global (https://paoc.org/donate), Mission Aviation Fellowship (https://maf.ca/nextgeneration), or the Future Fund of Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp (https://www.lakeshorepentecostalcamp.com/donate)

We were shocked & sad when Kevin told us of Connie's sudden homegoing. We remember the good times here in Tillsonburg on the farm when you spoke in Bethel Tillsonburg. You also were here with Lindy when we were just returning to Tillsonburg from Sarnia & you came out to see how our house-building project was progressing. Our basic foundation for friendship was Missions. We have met several times at good eating places until we managed to age & driving far stopped. We love and appreciate you Dave & will keep you in our prayers. Your friendship is appreciated & we always loved having both of you here with us. May God bring comfort & solace to you & the girls & their families at this time Don & Dorothy J. Robinson Tillsonburg,ON
Dear David, Kara & David, Lindy & Ben. We have great memories of your folks in Kenya and grieve with you in the loss of Connie. She was a delight to be around and was so full of God’s grace and peace. May God’s presence be with you today and in the weeks and months ahead.
Dave, Kara, Lindy, Jean, Pat and all of your families, our deepest condolences on the tremendous loss to the very core of your family. Connie was a pillar to all who knew her. A true gem who enriched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She was true encourager and a delight to know her. We still fondly remember our unexpected time together at Elim Lodge and what a tremendous blessing that was. While heaven is rejoicing, the void she leaves in so many lives and especially yours can only be filled with God's love, care, and comfort. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today and in the days ahead. May God continue to surround you and fill you with His love and strength each and every day. Connie will be deeply missed. Wayne & Pat
I was very blessed to meet and spend time with Connie during my time in Malawi in 2010. Getting to stay in their guest suite, I experienced her and David's hospitality, care and concern. She let me win at Sequence and gave good advice. I praise God that she is now worshipping in his very presence. But I pray also for comfort and peace for David and the whole family as their hearts are raw and broken in her sudden absence. May they feel his presence during every step of this grief journey and be filled with the hope of seeing both Jesus and Connie face to face in heaven.

To all the family, Larry and I send our deepest condolences at the sudden passing of your beloved Connie. While we haven't seen Connie for years, good memories are there for us. We are so thankful that we shared some very precious moments, most especially Elmer and Jean's marriage celebration. I especially hear and will remember Connie's distinctive, sweet chuckle. Pat, my dearest friend, so often shared her love of her sister with me. What a blessing to have had. Under different circumstances we would have joined you today. Trust that our prayers and love are with you all. Larry and Joan

It was an honour to know Connie and call her friend. She assumed the role of Honorary Mother to one of my daughters and we referred to each other as soul-sisters. I will miss her presence on this side of life, but cherish her friendship till we meet again. My prayers and thoughts are with her dear family. May God's peace and comfort carry you through this season of grief. May the knowledge of her love for you lift your spirits through the grief journey.

I loved Connies smile and her glow which was always around her. I met Connie in 1986 while in the hospital having our babies, Kara and Michael. There was something about her that made me want to get to know her more, The love of God that surrounded her family made me want to find out more. Shortly after I accepted the lord into my heart and became friends to her family.Connie was a beautiful lady in many ways. She will be missed so much. Love to all of her family.
R.I.P Connie, Your love will forever remain in our hearts. We will miss you.
Dear David, Pat and "Auntie" Jean, My memories of Connie go way back to childhood and teen years - speed reading books together, hanging out at each other's homes on birthdays, family get-togethers, youth group, high school, etc. Although we didn't see each other much in recent years, there were times of catch-up at Braeside Camp or even Costco. :) I will always treasure Connie's grace, compassion and gentle spirit. My deepest condolences on the loss you are feeling right now. May the God of All Comfort be with you as you celebrate Connie's life and graduation to her heavenly home. Love, Cindy

Dear David, Kara, Lindy and family: The passing of Connie has been such a shock. A huge loss in your lives and in our global worker world. Murray and I have so many fond memories of Connie dating right back to 1980 in Vancouver, through to Africa, and then in Ontario. She was a gifted administrator and everything she did was done with excellence. But more importantly, Connie was a wonderful reflection of Jesus. She was kind, patient, loving, caring, a wonderful hostess, with a wonderful smile. She will be greatly missed. May our Father in Heaven pour comfort and peace into your hearts as you celebrate Connie's life, but also grieve her loss. With much love and appreciation, Murray & Cindy Cornelius
I loved that when we would see each other, it was like no time had passed. Her bubbly smile and personality lives on through her family. Sending love to each and every one of you. Hazel

The shock and sadness of this loss is still a heavy load, more so for you Dave and all the family. Connie was a bright light in this dark world, full of cheer and joy and always contributing to life and ministry to improve or better the outcomes. The Kingdom lost an amazing lady on earth, but gained a vivacious angel in heaven. May you all feel God's rich presence, comfort and strength. Love, Moyra.
Jean & Patsy, so sorry to hear of the loss of Connie. May God comfort you in your loss. I'll be praying for your family. Judy

Our great consolation despite pain, grief and loss, is that Connie has gone home to the LORD Jesus. Our love and sorrow mingle as we realize the extent of yours and our Loss of someone like your Beloved. She seemed to always wear that beautiful smile and concern for whoever she was talking to! She probably ran into Jesus arms with that same smile! Hugs to all of you Diethard and Britt

Our hearts go out with much love to David and Connie's family...she was a sweet friend to me. See you in heaven.
Words cannot express the loss, but Connie always looked on the bright side of every situation. We both have so many fond memories of Connie from our time at WPA. While Connie was performing her administrative duties, I would come up the back stairs to the office, stop in her doorway, and with a pseudo-stern voice say, "I have just two words for you." And she would respond, "Be Blessed!" And she was and is a blessing to many. Be BLESSED Connie. Be BLESSED David.
David, Lindy, Kara, and family - My heart cries out to God for you! Connie was a dear friend and colleague. We so appreciated her gentle quiet spirit as we worked together in the Kenya Field office in Nairobi. She looked for the good in everyone and in every situation. Praying that you will know God's peace and feel His arms of love holding you up in this difficult season.
We are stunned and heart broken at the sudden passing of Connie. I remember as a deaconess in Waterloo this young teenage girl would very often come to my office and help me with my work, she was always ready to do anything. Only to know that her skills would take her around the world. What a gift she was to so many. As I read some of the comments to her family I was moved by how many referred to Connie as my good friend….a wonderful legacy, but left us too soon… your face and gifting will be missed by many. Trevor and Diann skills
Our dear friend has left this life for the next; we are shocked and saddened by this sudden passing but know that our loss is indeed her very great gain. David, Kara, and Lindy, our hearts are with you in this season and we pray that the God of all comfort would surround you with his love. Indeed, we do not mourn as those without hope, however we do mourn and we are blessed because of it as we are promised comfort. Here in Malawi we will say, zikomo kwambiri anzanga ndithu, thank you so much our dear friend. You have served well and have now received your eternal reward. We will never forget you!
My heartfelt condolence to Lindy and David. I knew Connie pretty well back in 2017 when I visited their home in Tanzania she become a lovely mother to me. It's sad that she is gone forever, but happy that she has joined the Lord in heave. Fare thee well mum.
Sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Dave and all of Connie Jean's family in her sudden and unexpected passing into Heaven. We'll miss her so... Life time friends, Anne and Leonard Koch
The Evers Family has held only great memories for me. A lovelier family would be hard to find. My earliest memories of them are warm dating back to nearly my birth. Our deepest and sincere condolences to you all. We know your comfort is from our Lord God most high. Connie was a gentle and kind woman of God. She carried the Evers legacy well. Hugs to you all.
Our most sincere condolences to you and your family David. Absolutely shocked at Connie's sudden passing! So many wonderful memories of the years we served the Lord together in Kenya, not to mention the pizzas we shared. Connie's first-class administrative skills, pleasant disposition and "do it now!" attitude were such a blessing to the A-Team. May the Lord grant you and your family His comfort and peace. May you hear the voice from heaven, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" (Rev. 4v13).
