Margaret "Francesca" Fullerton (nee Harrison)

January 12, 1925 - May 14, 2024

Margaret “Francesca” Fullerton (nee Harrison) passed away peacefully May 14th, in her 100th year, surrounded by family at “Willowsands”, Cobourg, Ontario. Mum was predeceased by her loving husband, of 58 years, James John Fullerton. Mother of Anne (Mark Pritzker), John, Jane (Daniel Meyerhans) and Juliet (John Morand). Loving grandmother of Jennifer Dallas MacLean (John MacLean), Michael Fullerton (Morgan Pel), Kate Fearnall, Andrea Fearnall and Sarah Meyerhans. Proud great grandmother “GiGi”, of Winston, Imogen and Quentin Fullerton-Pel and also Dorian MacLean. Mum was predeceased by her sister Juliet Elizabeth Harrison-Renner and her brother Dr. Robert Michael Cantilupe Harrison.

Born in Bengal, India to Dr. Cecil Cantilupe Harrison and Juliet Marion Menzies (nee Dallas), Mum attended St. Hilda’s, and St. Margaret’s, Bushey, schools in England until war intervened. In July 1940, Mum and her brother, Michael were evacuated to Canada, leaving her parents and elder sister, Juliet, in England. Mum attended Forest Hill Collegiate and Branksome Hall and the University of Toronto graduating in 1947 from Household Sciences. Mum was a teaching dietitian for 2 years at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Quebec where she met her beloved husband James John Fullerton. Later in life Mum founded and ran Share Info in Cobourg and was also the County of Northumberland Law Librarian. Mum was also a member of Probus and a proud Victoria Hall Volunteer for may years. Mum was an active member of St. Peter’s Church and a kind, gracious and loving mother, always with open arms to hug you. Mum liked to read, walk on the beach, collect stones and wild flowers and share her love of nature with family and friends. Each year when Seville oranges arrive in stores, Mum shared her love of marmalade making with her sister and family! Mum’s faith, love of family, friends and gentle spirit was simply marvelous.

Please join us in a celebration of Mum’s life to be held at St. Peter’s Church, Cobourg Ontario, 2:00pm Friday July 5th, 2024.
A reception will be held in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.

My deep sympathies to the Fullerton family. Francesca was an inspiration to all. Interesting to talk to (such a fascinating life she led in her close to 100 years), spunky, bright, interested in others and oh so British in every way. I was pleased to get her to pose in 2015 for Gillian Smith-Clark's Book Beautiful, featuring beautiful women of all ages, for which Francesca didn't think she qualified! She most certainly did and was featured in the book. She led the kind of life many of us aspire to but don't achieve.
