Joan passed peacefully at home with family in her 88th year. A pillar of her family, Joan was the beloved wife of Morgan for sixty-five years. Loving mother of David (Alee) and Debra (John) Leguard. Treasured grandmother and best friend/confidant of Sydney, Ainsley and Chloe. Close sister of Jeanette (Ken) Oakley and Allan (Ruth) McEachern. Good friend of Tanya McBride. Joan enjoyed her sorority sisters as a sixty-year member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Joan was born and raised on a family farm in Conn, Ontario with her siblings and cherished parents. After moving to Cobourg, she taught kindergarten at Burnham, Thomas Gillbard and Cook’s schools. Joan was a wonderful painter and musician who shared her talents with her students, friends and family. Joan supported Morgan’s Chiropractic clinic as business manager and also designer/keeper of the beautiful gardens enjoyed by patients and passersby of the Third Street property until 2010 when they moved to a quieter home in the country.
Joan will be remembered and missed for her gentle spirit, sense of humour and the kindness and care she showed to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joan supported many charities and any donation in her memory would be appreciated.
A family service will be held at a later date.
I am so sorry to read the news of the passing of Dr. Hubbel's wife - in the Clinic's Newsletter. My condolences to all family members, staff and friends. I wish I had known Joan, we could have swapped some music, art and gardening tips. May she rest in peace.

To the best of my knowledge I never had the privilege of meeting your beautiful wife, Morgan but I notice that we are all the same age. I write dates down then I can't find them. I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday so I phoned Morgan's Chiropractic. After I identified myself, I was asked when my birthday was and when I inquired about you, Morgan I was told that they were not allowed to give me that information. I have had eye surgery and once that is healed I will come and SEE you. My prayers are with you and your family.

Joan and I taught Kindergarten in one room at Thomas Gilbard P.S. in 1963-1964. She was an accomplished pianist and introduced me to a series of music books for young children composed by Claire Senior Burke. These seasonal songs were about nature with catchy tunes that the children would sing at random throughout the day. I used them throughout my 35 year teaching career. Joan was also an artist making beautiful bulletin board displays with her beautifully manicured hands. She brought in flowers as teaching aids, one day a beautiful monarch chrysalis which I'm sure the children remember to this day; I sure do! She had a quiet, motherly way with children. I was saddened to hear of the death of Joan Hubbell. During my 35+ years living and working in Cobourg you could not help but be aware of the many contributions that Joan and Morgan have made to their community and their professions for so many years. I was interested to know that she was originally from the village of Conn which is a farm community just north of where I currently live in Fergus and Joan is a fine example of so many good people who hail from Wellington County. My sympathies to Morgan and Joan’s entire family.
