Passed away on Tuesday May 14, 2024 at Northumberland Hills Hospital in his 91st year. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean (nee Smith) for 69 years. Loving father of Roger (Cathy Birney) and Judy Immel (late Richard) and Shawn Linton. Son of the late Russell Fitchett and late Mary Fitchett (nee McGregor). Proud grandfather of Erin Immel (Mike Macklin), Derek Immel (Jamie Lee), Andrew Fitchett (Marsha), Justin Fitchett (Becca) and Jillian Fitchett (Jack Whelan), and great grandfather of Oliver Fitchett, James Immel, George Immel and Truett Adrian-Fitchett. Brother of the late Vernon Fitchett (late May), late Doris Smith (late Jerry), Marie McIntosh (late Milton), Myrtle Moore (late George), Rosemary Broomfield (late Arthur). Remembered by other family members and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Xi for his wonderful care. Also all the kind nursing staff on 2A, Rehab and Palliative Care Units at Northumberland Hills Hospital. Many thanks to Adam and the very supportive staff at MacCoubrey Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will take place. A Celebration Of Life will be held at the Grafton Legion on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 1 to 5 pm. Those wishing may make a donation in George’s memory to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, or St. Andrews United Church, Grafton.
