Passed peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, April 19th, 2024, at the age of 66. Beloved husband of the late Maria (“we finished training him Mom, so you can have him back”) for 37 years. Proud, loving father of the four best kids in the world: Mark (Lauren), Adam (Rachel), Maria L. (Stephen) and Angela (Tom). Doting Grandpa to Beau and Scottie. Barry will be sadly missed by his loving mother, Myrna (Watty) and his prankster siblings Donna (John), Bonnie (Kirk), Les (Tammy), Darlene (Gord), Robbie (Petra). Special people in his life were the entire Watts family and his brothers in beers.
Barry spent many years driving his kids around and spent all his spare time at the 60 acres camp (if it’s brown it’s down) with the guys or out on the water catching smallies.
A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held at the Columbus Community Centre, 232 Spencer Street East, Cobourg, on Sunday April 28, 2024 from 1 to 4pm. For those wishing to make a memorial donation, may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society or OFAH Fish and Wildlife fund.

I am so sorry to hear this about Barry. My thoughts and prayers go out to Barry’s children, and the Godfrey family. We were co-workers at Harnden & King Const. for many years. Barry also helped to build my house! Had many a laugh with the “Mugger”. His presence was always appreciated and helped the day to pass humorously. Rest in peace my friend.
My condolences to the whole family. Barry truly was one of a kind. I had the pleasure of working with him when I was a summer student for the parks department with the town. He always had a witty or perhaps a slightly inappropriate comment to contribute to any situation, making us laugh or smile and often saying you can't take life too seriously. He was easy to talk to and would take the time to help us if we needed it. He often proudly talked about his family and his beautiful camp and you could tell his love ran deep for both. He had a heart of gold and truly will be missed. Cheers to one of the best! Kayla Dudley

Mark, Adam, Maria, Angela . My heat breaks for you . I’m so sorry for your loss. Flynn and Barry spent many of years working together. As well many adventures at 60 acres with a few beers involved. The one rule was “ what ever happened at the camp stayed at the camp” at least that’s what I was told . The one story I do remember is the night the boys wanted to have all the wives out for dinner. The boys went all out , set a lovely table with flowers cooked a delicious meal and we all spent the night at the camp. A great memory. I can still hear Maria’s laugh and her saying “ time for bed guys” . My thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP Barry as your reunited with the love of your life. Give Flynn a big hug as well Mugger .

To Barry's beloved family and kids...you are loved and carry the torch from great and grounded parents. To me, Barry (Mugger) was our team captain in Mercantile hockey for a reason. He made each and every player he interacted with feel special. He was a great teammate and a better person. He and Maria prove once again that life is precious if not unfair at times. He leaves a lot of people reminiscing today. Please know you are all in our thoughts RIP

Maria and family, sorry to hear of loss.
Dear Bonnie and family I went to school with Bonnie too many years ago to mention. Although, I didn’t know him it is a terrible loss. So to you Bonnie and your wonderful family my sincerest condolences. Jackie Russell Thomas Gillbard Public School
I've known Barry for years, and went to school with his boss ( whoops wife Maria..lol ) . I'll miss the little chats we'd have here and there , mostly about hunting and such. And the beers ( whisky) at the 60 acres camp which lead to some interesting coversations and on occasions, acts of who gives a shits. Like the time I stopped by the camp as Barry was cleaning up after the shotgun Deer season ( I joyfully helped him and John clean up all the remaining beer, whisky, and other types of mess that needed cleaning up...what a buzz!!!!! Part way thru the tidying up Barry had the great Idea that we should go for a tour thru the woods, the truck might have bounced of a tree or 2 that adventure but all was well, not too much damage. Hunt and fish and drink to your delight my friend . You deserve a good time and some fun. Say hi to Maria for me. PS I hope Maria doesn't read this, I'm not sure what you told her about your truck that day ..lol RIP BARRY
