I met Liz through Community Care transportation services. Just loved it when she picked me up in her Miata. Hearing her tales of South Africa, especially during the global lockdown, were interesting and quite funny. I was shocked to read that she had passed, as there was so much life in her. The last time we saw each other she was grumbling about having to look into retirement living - at 80! A real trooper.

My sincere condolences to the family. She was a kind mother-in-law for the many years I was a member of the family.
To Rick, Mandy Tyler and all: I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Liz as a mother-in-law and ex-mother-in-law but she always treated me and often told me, she still considered me her daughter-in-law as the mother of her grandchildren. We stayed close over the years I will miss her deeply.
I first met Liz and Anette at Black Leopard Camp (Mountain Lodge) when I was just starting out as a safari guide. She was quite the force and I'm grateful I got to do a last game drive (safari) with her early in 2023. Liz was such an incredible lady and I admired her so much. Goodluck and my sincere condolences to the family.
Tyler & Erin: I’m sorry for your loss. ❤️
I was very saddened to hear that Liz had passed away! I have many fond memories of Nick and Liz when they lived in Colborne! My deepest condolences to all of the family!

Dear Tyler; So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. You and your family are in my thoughts. Trish
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
I’m so sorry to hear of Liz’s passing. I sang with her in Westben’s Festival Chorus and enjoyed her company very much. She always was immaculately dressed and had the best glasses! RIP Liz.
We were so sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of |Liz. As former neighbour and friend she was always fun to be with. We remember our friday night fish and chip dinners at the Queens with Nick and Liz. The boys drank beer, Susie drank wine and Liz Dubonnet! Classy lady. We will remember her wonderful smile and laugh. She will be missed.
I went to college with Liz’s daughter Mandy. I met Liz a couple of times over the years and she was always so friendly. Mandy always spoke of her trips with her mom and other family members to Africa. Made me want to go on safari one day. She had adventure in her soul. Mandy and family, so sorry for your loss. 💕💕
We’re very sorry to hear of Liz’s death. We sang together at Westben. She would arrive in her yellow Miata…such a fun, smart and classy person! After she left the chorus, I enjoyed her company (and travels) on social media.
I had the pleasure of being liz's house cleaner for almost 7 years. She was a wonderful lady!! She and her kittys always made me feel so welcome. Over those years we became friends and i will miss seeing her drive by my in- laws with the top down on her car, and the wind blowing her hair all-over. She was an amazing sewer, she loved her garden's and classical music was always playing in her home when i was there. She always spoke of her grandchildren and how she loved them. I will miss her very much . Sending love and prayers to her family. Rest easy Liz, until we meet again .
I was very sad to read this. I met Liz in 1962 when we worked together in Guelph. We had our first babies one day apart. I was so happy to renew our friendship a few years ago. My sympathy to all the family
I am so sorry for your loss. She was always so sweet and kind to us. May she rest in peace.
I send my sincere condolences during this time of deep sorrow. The Bible gives a comforting hope and promise your loved one will live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4)
My condolences Mandy, to you and your family!
To Mandy & family Stuart & I met Liz & Mandy in Africa back in 2014 on a Leopard Conservation safari. Being only a group of 4 people we got to know each other well and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The most abiding memory was the first morning when preparing to leave the Black Leopard Mountain Lodge for our first proper game drive when Liz arrived at the 4 x 4 with a steaming hot mug of black coffee; given the state of the roads the coffee didn't stay in the mug very long! All our thoughts are with Amanda & the family, Julie, Stuart & Barney
At the age of 79 Liz had a great adventure, she spent almost a year living off the grid in the African bush. Liz affectionately became known as Granny to the staff on the reserve as well as to the locals in town. She loved her canvas home and loved to watch the bushbuck eat her vegetable scraps off her doorstep. She also had to nightly protect her provisions from Bushbaby raid that happened every night. She was at one with nature. Liz is forever part of our family as well as part of the history of our beautiful reserve and will never be forgotten. We love and miss you Granny. All our love The Watsons and all the staff at Black Leopard Mountain Lodge and the Thaba Tholo Wilderness.
