Dana Lynn Harrison

November 30, 1966 - February 18, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dana on February 18, 2024, in Cobourg, ON, after a brief illness. Loving daughter of Karen, devoted sister of David, and adored niece of Mia (Frank), Jim (Deb) and Bill (Nancy) and Janice (Peter) and dear friend of many cousins. Dana was predeceased by her father Larry and aunts Diane and Sheila. She was the partner in crime of Robyn and long-time friend of Vanessa. Dana will be deeply missed by all.
Dana dedicated her life’s work to the vaccine field, making the world a safer, healthier place. Outside of work she had a number of passions including her passion for cooking. She was an avid runner, enjoyed playing soccer, and geocaching with friends. Dana loved to travel, especially when the destination was hosting the next professional tennis match. With her quick wit and warm and generous heart, she was endeared to all who knew her.
A celebration of Dana’s life will be held at a later date. Donations to Plan International Canada or Covenant House Toronto would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Susan Diskic - July 9, 2024

Dear Karen and David; I have lived in the UAE for 12 years and recently was walking at nearby Asharej Park in the early morning when I thought of your family. When I got home I did a Google search of Mr Harrison and saw that he had passed. Then I scrolled down and saw that Dana passed just weeks later. I am so very sorry to read this. David was one of my best friend's in high school in senior year, and I spent quite a bit of time at the Harrison home in Guelph. Dana was a very intelligent gal, who was athletic, and many a snack did she feed me when I was over. I also posted this on Facebook "Centennial CVI Class of 83ish" group to let others that went to school with Dana and David know. Again my sincere condolences...and David when I am back in Toronto for a visit, I will look you up! May you both be surrounded by love, prayer, and support.

Krissy Carrington - April 5, 2024

Dear Mrs. Harrison and family I am still so heart- broken that Dana was so ill and did not enjoy her retirement years the way she deserved to. She worked in our regulatory team for ten years and we will miss her at Sanofi. I’m so grateful that her colleagues and friends have written here so you can know she was well loved by them. I always enjoyed her funny tshirts and puns during our many meetings. She always acted to make things better and made the world a better place. I can hear her still telling me to pick up some garbage when we walk. I hope to meet you in person for her celebration of life to express my condolences personally. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope Dana is finally free and in peace. With my deepest sympathy, Krissy Carrington

I didn't work much with Dana, we were part of the same Labeling team but separated by the Atlantic with few interaction. But the little I knew her, I feel she was a discreet and sensitive person... I share the sadness of his family and friends. Where she is now, she is in peace.

I worked with Dana on a vaccine project for the US market. During those years she was a good friend and a wonderful colleague. She was always ready to help when it was needed. She made important contributions to make possible the approval of a lifesaving vaccine to the US market. But more importantly, she made the job fun. I will not forget her warmth, humor and work ethic. She will be missed.

Dave McEachran - March 15, 2024

Dear family and friends of Dana, I was very sorry to hear the news about Dana. She was a good friend and colleague. She would occasionally drive me to work in her old Dodge truck and make me nervous as she checked and responded to emails and texts as she drove. We often spoke about good restaurants and my child (now an adult) who, assigned female at birth, now sees themselves as non-binary. They helped me understand my child better and gave me great advice. We often ended up at our US location and eating dinner together (with Vanessa). Vanessa and Dana seemed inseparable at work so it was never a surprise to see them together. The world is not as bright with Dana passing. Love, Dave McEachran

Dana has been my neighbour for 15 years, and a friend for most of that time. I got to know her a lot better the last couple summers, as I sat on my patio, starting to enjoy semi-retirement, and she, exiting or entering her condo via the stairs adjacent to my unit, contemplated her own, much too short, retirement, as it turned out, when she stopped to chat. Our conversations were always friendly and vigorous, whether we were bitching about the condo, or simply talking about what was going on in our lives. Whatever we spoke about, I always felt better afterwards. She was certainly a kind and generous soul, helping me with shopping or empties or offering me a slice of veggie lasagna. She certainly made my life better in Thornhill, and her passing has left a hole in my life where there oughtn't be a hole. Rest in peace, Dana: you won't be forgotten. My condolences of course to those who knew her much better than I did, especially Robyn and Vanessa. I've made a donation to Covenant House in her memory.

Meredith Lafond-Phésans (Gardner) - March 9, 2024

I had the great good fortune of having Dana as a colleague, mentor, manager and always staunch friend and supporter, since we first met so long ago in Building 18. She was such a warm, caring, loyal person with a great sense of humour, and the world is a little bit darker without her. Heartfelt condolences to Robyn, Vanessa, and all her friends and family.

George Lutchman - March 8, 2024

Mrs Harrison, I am so very sorry for your loss. Dana was a very special person. She would most times make me smile and the rest of the time made me laugh when we chatted. How could we forget those Crocs? Yes, even in February. Dana was so helpful as a coworker. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Linda Henry - March 8, 2024

Dana had such a kind heart and I will miss her. I have so many fun memories. We had some wonderful adventures geocaching literally across North America in Seattle and on our 7,000 km 8-day Canada-US tour and then of course heading off to Alaska. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was a great friend both inside and outside Sanofi. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Dana also loved wearing our Sanofi campaign t-shirts! Dana was very supportive of product portfolio projects ensuring a successful completion by following up with affiliates or whatever was required. May you rest in peace Dana! You will be truly missed.

I first met Dana when she joined RA at Sanofi. We became fast friends and shared many a laugh and many a tear. She always wore casual slides around the office and this endeared her to me greatly. So knowledgeable in her field and always willing to help wherever needed. Many days she would bring me her delicious banana bread. She spoke often of her much loved partner Robyn and her little kitties. She is free now and at peace. Condolences to all of Dana’s family and friends. Farewell to you my friend I will miss you.
