After a courageously fought battle Rayna Breton passed at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the age of 76. Rayna passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She is the beloved sister to Lise Aucoin (Yves), Clair Breton (Len), Bernice Spencer (Rand), Margaret Peltier (Brian), Randy Breton (Anna), Penny Wells (Mike). Cherished aunt to Carol, John Jr., Nancy, Jason, Janice, Christopher, Andrew, Dan, Megan, and very proud great-aunt to Jarrett, Everett, Kara, Cole, Sofia, and Anna. Predeceased by her mother Marie Breton as well as sisters Jean Lucia (John) and Rosa Breton. Rayna is going to be deeply missed by her darling dog Jenny, and Thomas as well as Charlie and her newest canine companion, Chester. Rayna was a force to be reckoned with. She was endlessly kind, quick to forgive, a loyal friend, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She could often be found down by the water taking in the view with a cup of coffee in hand or with Jenny by her side. In 2017 Rayna had the absolute trip of a lifetime when she and her sister Lise went on a cruise to the Caribbean . An unabashed and indiscriminate cinephile, Rayna enjoyed all genre of film and television. She would often watch movies in entirely different languages, open to and eager for adventure and new perspectives from any and every culture. If you received a phone call from Rayna and were greeted with “Hello Chica!” she had likely just finished a new movie in Spanish. Life was not always easy for Rayna. In 2018 Rayna was in need of help, which she found at Cornerstone Women’s Shelter in Cobourg and together they got her back up on her feet. She and her family are forever grateful to this team of individuals for their help and guidance. In recent years, Rayna battled cancer with incredible courage, meeting every new challenge with steadfast resolve. Not one to be redefined, Rayna continued doing all of the things in life she enjoyed. Most especially spending time with the people in this world who meant the most to her, her family. Rayna is deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten by all of her family, friends and all those deeply privileged to know this wonderful woman. As per Rayna’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please instead consider a donation to Northumberland Humane Society or a Thrift Store Cobourg, in memory of Rayna.
I met Rayna & Jenny walking my dog Coco in the park. After meeting several times, she felt comfortable enough to invite me over for a glass of wine. I had the pleasure of visiting with her a few times to share wine, snacks, pleasant conversation and cuddles from Jenny. Rayna you were a beautiful kind soul and I will miss you dearly. I raise my glass to you my friend and will think of you often, until we meet again, rest easy.
The world has certainly lost a gentle, thoughtful and sole! A big thank you to her sister Claire who was Rayna's greatest and untiring advocate and was by her to the end! Rayna, I'll miss you and hope God has you in his arms!
I had the pleasure of knowing and working for Rayna years ago and she was quite the character. I know she will be greatly missed.

Our hearts are broken by this news. Rayna was the most kind and loving person we have ever known. I used to say that Rayna was one big walking heart. She always had a smile for you and was willing to help you if you needed anything. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew her and it's a shame that more people didn't get that pleasure. Love you Rayna. Always in our hearts. xoxo
I had the chance to reconnect with Rayna over the last couple of years and we chatted often when she was out for a walk, we would sit on the bench by the river and enjoy nature together! I will miss her dearly, sending love to her family and friends as we all remember her and what she brought into our lives xoxo
