Gerald (Jerry) Aubrey Coburn, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family at his home. He was 84.
Born on September 21, 1939, in Perth, Ontario, Jerry's life was a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and the joy he found in the company of his family. His love of wife Marion was everlasting. He was a proud father of sons Glen (Kim), Ryan (Jennifer) and Neil. He also loved of being a doting Pappa to Jack, and Charlie (Glen), along with Russell and Freddie (Neil) who blessed him later in life.
Predeceased by his beloved sister Marg, Jerry shared a special bond and love with her growing up in Agincourt, ON.
Jerry had a passion for hockey and his love for the game was passed down to his boys. He was a devoted father, spending countless hours driving his sons to hockey and other sports. He created cherished memories by building spectacular ice rinks in their backyard. These moments stand as a testament to the commitment and love he poured into his family.
An enthusiastic member of the Agincourt Old Timers hockey club, Jerry found immense pleasure in playing on that team. His commitment to the club and camaraderie with his teammates added another layer to his love for the game.
Jerry's passion for drag racing as a young man turned into a lifelong career spanning over 30 years, where he dedicated himself to working with cars. His expertise in the automotive world were evident to all who knew him.
A fixer and a builder of things, Jerry dedicated his days to various home improvements, always working hard to provide for his family. Neighbours would frequently stop by to see what project he was diligently working on.
Jerry was known for his dry sense of humour, quick wit, and the ability to spin captivating stories, particularly about his days on the hockey rink and the racetrack. His laughter and warmth will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As the family navigates through this challenging time, expressions of sympathy and shared memories are welcomed and can be extended through the MacCoubrey Funeral Home website.
Jerry's life will be celebrated through cremation, and details of a joyous tribute of his life will be announced at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Ed's House in Cobourg or Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Rest in peace, Jerry. Your legacy of love, hard work, and laughter will forever be etched in our hearts.

Dear Marion and family, Knowing that it comes to us all, makes it no less a shock when you see a notice for someone such as Gerry. He was certainly one of the good ones and I only knew one aspect of his life from when he came into my shop with you. But what was always evident was his love for you Marion, it shone like a beacon! You told me once that in high school, he fixed your bike, and he's been fixing things for you ever since! What a lovely man and what a loss it must be! I will always remember him and his kind and gentle demeanor. God Bless !

Dear Marion and Family Marg and Dan are sending our deepest condolences to you, Marion and all of your family. Jerry was our friend for over 40 years and we shared the love of hockey. Jerry will be missed for his "Victor Borge" sense of humour. We have many wonderful memories of Jerry. Our family of Buffy, David and Michael have also fond memories of Jerry like the time Jerry was dressed in a Santa suit at Agincourt Arena and Michael who was about 4 years old, walked past him and very casually said, "Hello Mr. Coburn". Jerry was devoted to Marion as well as Glen, Ryan, Neil and each of their families.
So sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. I remember him with fun, happy memories. Always laughing and enjoying life with his lovely wife Marion.

Our sympathies go to Marion and her family at this sorrowful time in their lives. We remember Jerry as the guy who was always involved with projects and especially his homemade sandals (old tires treads with straps) he was so inventive. He certainly had a wonderful and rich life. Doug & Linda Horner
We’ve lost someone truly special, the coolest of characters, and a father figure to many of us growing up in Agincourt and beyond. I’ll picture his mischievous smile as he eagerly awaited whatever I had to say, and I'll remember his witty responses that never failed to lift my spirits. Thankfully, his legacy lives on in his wonderful family. My deepest condolences to you, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to one of our dearest friends. Another Agincourt old-timer! Jer was always ready to lend a helping hand, and did so with a wonderful sense of humour. Ryan and Kevin were just 5 years old when they started playing soccer together. Sports certainly keep you young and connected! As we all get older, wonderful memories often pop in our minds, and then we remember and realize we will all meet again! God bless you Jerry! xoxo Moni & Bri

Jerry was a great friend to us, we had many happy times together, we had two cruises together we always remember Jerry and his chocolate covered croissants at the breakfast buffet and at happy hour in the crooners lounge in the afternoons. He was very creative with his hands making bird feeders and such in his garage we still have some of his wooden “bull rushes” that he made for out door decoration. Jerry you were a very special person you will be sorely missed. Rest in piece, God bless you.
Dear Marion and family We are so very sorry to get the news of Jerry's passing. Thanks to Ryan for telling us so kindly. Tom and Jerry were boyhood friends in Agincourt, 70 years ago. Tom and I have kept in touch with the Coburns since High School days. Distance has kept us from visiting often but we loved to be invited to each of the lovely homes that Jerry and Marion created together. In turn we have some of Jerry's creative works in our home. A lovely mirror made from a window and an "old guy's" cane and some pieces we left at the farm. Lately we have chatted by phone and will miss hearing Jerry calling "Frank". Take care of each other! We will talk soon, Love Valerie

The neighbourhood lanes won’t be the same without your lovely hearty laugh and friendly smile, Jerr. You were that guy who had just the right gadget or tool, and would help anyone out at a moments notice with your big heart. Every time I look at the kitchen drawer you fixed for us, I will think of you. You and your beautiful family will miss your lovely warm heart and we feel fortunate in having met you. ❤️ Cathy and Barry Toner
Dearest Uncle Jerry- we will miss you. Although you and Marion have known our family for almost 50 years and your not family by blood your are family by spirit! The best memories for me were when you and Marion with UJ, AJ and my mam all met up in Buffalo for a weekend get away for shopping. Dave and I were held up in traffic and although we arrived late at the hotel you all came out with us to the hotel bar for drinks and finger foods. You were all ready for bed but quickly dressed for some cheer and laughs. Gerry you meant a lot to my Mam and Dad and you will forever be in our hearts and happy memories. You and Auntie M are very special to us and always will be. We are better for knowing you both! Rest in peace- Keep telling your humorous tales! God bless! Xxoo Sam Haykin and Dave Willis.
Madison, Quentin and I will miss you so much. You were always there for us. You made us all laugh. You made us all so grateful for life. Words can’t express how much we cared and loved you. You always knew what to say to make us feel better. The world was a better place with you in it. ❤️
