Betty (“Bet”) Russell-Meharry (born Herron) worked at Davidson Rubber (Collins & Aikman) for over twenty years before retiring and focusing on her many passions, including DIY projects, horticulture, caretaking, and holistic nutrition. She passed suddenly but peacefully at home on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Betty is remembered by all for her kindness and giving nature, and is survived by her three cats, Miss Kitty, Mario, and Luigi.
Betty will be dearly missed by her son Nathan (Sharon), her cousin Mary-Alice, and her siblings John Roy (Barb), Richard James (Linda), Michael (Jackie), Barbara (Peter), Paul (Theresa), Pat (Kelly), Larry (Claudette), and step-siblings Phil, Chris (Nedum), and Jay (Cindy). She is predeceased by her siblings Francis (Wally), Doris (Perk) Linda (Al), step-siblings Danny, Sammy, Lenore (Duncan) and parents Jean Herron, John Herron, and stepfather Edward Harding. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews Margy (Bruce), Tim (Anne), Peter, Wanda (Les), Mark (Amanda), Beth (Joe), Pam, Bonnie, David, Brenda, Gina (Jim), Tracy, Jennifer (Rob), Lisa, Stephen (Jen), Doreen (Tony), Matthew (Marilyn), Chris (Carla), Angela, Richard, Ian, Angela, Marcy, Allison, Julia, Melissa (Sly), Emily (Justin), Lucas (Janessa-Lee), Tyler, Rebecca. She will also be missed by many friends and neighbours in the community.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6-9 pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home (30 King St E., Cobourg). Friends and family are also invited to attend services held on Saturday, March 9 at 1pm, and open reception and celebration of life to follow from 2-4pm. If desired, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Northumberland Humane Society.

My heartfelt condolences - love always. Bet - it's been many years and thousands of miles between us but you have never been forgotten. As children we were all so very close - as close as cousins tended to be back then. You've always been and will always remain in my heart and my memories of spending summers with you and all my cousins, are amongst the fondest in my life. Thank you.

I was saddened to learn of Betty's passing. We went to school together at Camborne, Dale Road, and the West. Always made me smile. My condolences to Barb and all the Herron Family. May she rest in peace.
