He was a kind, loving, all-round incredible person. Glenn was a 50 year member of the Canadian Hereford Association with his family in Rugby, ON. Glenn’s memory lives on in the people he inspired and the forests he helped grow. In memory of Glenn please plant some trees or support a charity of your choice.
I’m fortunate to have met Glenn in 2022 as he was preparing to retire as a planter. He had a big influence passing the torch and taught me a lot an about tree planting in Ontario. I’m proud to carry on what Glenn started here in 2024 with 100 thousand trees scheduled for planting. Thanks for leading the way. May the ‘forest’ be with You

Dear Louis and family, many condolences to you and yours. Glenn was rare personality - all about action, humour, humility and always impeccable integrity. He applied his art with grace, respected by all of us in Ontario Stewardship and beyond. My gosh he will be missed by all and of course most by his cherished family. He provided great memories and has left such a wonderful legacy to his family, the environment, and his community. Glenn did it all right, we should all be so lucky to leave rich story.
I had the honour and privilege of working with Glenn during the Stewardship Program days and again with Forests Ontario. He was a true gentleman, humble, and always willing to share this extensive forestry knowledge. I am so grateful for having known Glenn. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mcleod Family, you have our deepest sympathies. Glenn was truly a great person, and client. Always brought a smile to my face hearing about you guys coming in. I will never forget him, I talk about him all the time, since I was with him at your house when the planes hit the World Trade Towers. We sat for a couple hours in disbelief as it unfolded (completely forgetting about working on computer of course!). I will never forget him. Lawrence Hickman Onsite Computer Services
Sending our condolences to Glenn's family. It was a pleasure having an opportunity to cross paths with Glenn and getting the chance professionally to pick the brain of someone who made such a difference on the landscape. I'm very grateful that my first real experience tree planting was done through Glenn's instruction.
We wished we could be with you at the visitation but were turned around due to the snowy road conditions. I hope you were surrounded by loving supportive arms of friends and family during this difficult time. I will miss Glenn's kindness, deep knowledge and friendship in my forestry world. The best tribute i can think of is to say i will try to be like him. And yes, keep on planting more trees!

Hi Lois, I am sorry that your family has lost a great person! As you know Glenn & I go back a long way with the time we spent with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forest Ontario. We both felt that what we did and believed in was good for future generations. Over the years we spent lots of conversations reminiscing about the value of growing and planting trees and I would like to believe that the contributions that Glenn made will have long lasting effects! I am sorry I couldn't attend the remembrance of Glenn but I would like to believe that he would understand that I was volunteer my time to the youth programs in Belmont. The best to you and your family!! Greg
Lois and Family, May your many loving memories give you comfort now and in the days to come. In the words from Winnie the Pooh, " If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me within your heart, I'll stay there forever". Glenn will remain apart of us always through our many wonderful memories he left each of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Ralph Werry

Dear Lois It was so very sad to hear of Glenn’s passing. I am glad that we had a chance to reconnect a little bit and visit together when we were all hanging around way too much at KGH. It seems surreal that he is gone. I worked with Glenn all through the Stewardship years, the 50 Million Tree Program and on the board of the FGCA and always had a great deal of respect for his wise counsel and his gentle humour. He was always diplomatic, he could be straight up and blunt when he had to be but no matter the situation there was always a twinkle in his eye and a half smile behind those handlebars. He was a gentleman and a good guy and he left a significant green swath behind him. We will miss him. Gary Nielsen

Lois, I had the privilege of knowing Glenn over the last 25 years. He was a gentleman, a friend and a forester who had a true feeling for the land. His leadership in the field over the past decades has been remarkable. It was an honour to know him. Sincerely, Jane
Dear Lois, We were so saddened to hear of Glenn's passing. We think of him when we walk through the hundreds of trees he helped plant on our farm. It's his legacy! My sincerest condolences to Glenn's family and friends. Glenn certainly had a significant positive impact on me both professionally and personally while working with him at Forests Ontario and the Forest Gene Conservation Association. Glenn told me many stories of "the good ol' days" at the height of his work with the MNRF and whether he noticed or not, he was helping to shape my "good ol' days." I am so thankful for all the seeds he sowed, trees he planted and knowledge he imparted to make the world a better place.
I'd like to offer my condolences to Glenn's family and friends. I knew Glenn for a bit less than 20 years...most of that time that he was working as a Stewardship Coordinator. He was not only one of the most respected Coordinators, but he was a lot of fun to work with. He always had a smile and was quick to come up with solutions to difficult problems...which always helped the rest of us smile. Like all of the Stewardship Coordinators, he enjoyed seeing the accumulation of project results on the landscape. Glenn's spirit lives on in the biodiversity of the Province and particularly Northumberland County.

Glenn was truly a "Salt of the Earth" fellow. I enjoyed working with him in the Ontario Stewardship Program and also Forests Ontario. Additionally, I always enjoyed talking with Glenn about common interests such as cattle farming, the Leafs and lots of other topics. Without doubt he has left a legacy on the southern Ontario landscape through his career accomplishments, as well as through mentoring and support for many co-workers and community members. My deepest condolences to the family of Glenn on their loss. He was an amazing man! I collected seeds for him when he ran the Northumberland Stewardship program in the 90's and early 2000's - and like others have mentioned he was quick to share an interesting story and loved the prospect that those seeds were going to grow more trees ("stems" as he liked to call them). He will not be forgotten by all who were touched by his kindness... RIP Glenn

The Community of Rugby, Ontario is very saddened to hear of Glenn’s passing. There are many wonderful memories that our families made together - McLeod, Johnston & Langman. Like skating every Saturday night, as our parents skated arm & arm, we kids raced around the arena having the time of our lives! Then, back to one of our homes for a tasty lunch. In the summer it was more fun times and activities at Bass Lake. Also, many great memories were made at Rugby SS# 9. The Langman Family at Bass Lake, Katherine, Eric & Ellenor

Lois, Shaun, Beverly and Cheryl - We're saddened to hear this news. As we enjoy the trees surrounding our community, we will think of Glenn and the role had in planting so many of those trees. Keeping you in our thoughts at this difficult time.
First of all, my wife (Paloma) and I offer our most sincere condolences to Glenn's family. On a more personal note, Glenn and I both attended SSFC in 1970-72 and then we disappeared into the vastness of northern Ontario. We re-connected when I moved back to southern Ontario and Glenn came to his position in the Orono Nursery in the mid-1980's. I was very fortunate to work directly with Glenn for close to 11 years in the Stewardship program - my last years with MNRF. In fact for the first couple of years, we shared the same office in the Lindsay MNR building as we were starting out in this program. It would have been very unlikely for me to have had a better co-worker in those early days. We shared many laughs and mentored each other as we worked away at establishing our respective Stewardship Councils. Unfortunately, I am not good at maintaining connections with former co-workers, so this is one of those times I regret not staying in touch to the extent I should have. Glenn's passing causes significant reflection. It's not often you can recall someone that you've not heard someone say something negative about, but Glenn was one of those rare ones. May he rest in peace and walk forever amongst those many young trees he had a significant hand in nurturing at one point or another. Due to an immunity compromised situation, my wife and I do not attend such gatherings in these times and hope you will understand. Our condolences again.
Dearest Lois, Cheryl, Beverly and Shaun. Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers during these difficult days. My memory of Glenn will always be the way Beverly’s face would light up with a big smile when Glenn spoke her name and gave her one of his big smiles and big dad hugs? Christine Sills
Dear Lois and Family: I was saddened to hear of Glenn's passing, and I offer you and your family my deep condolences. I met Glenn when I worked for OMNR Research in Thunder Bay; my job involved interacting with students at Lakehead University, and this was the point that I first met Glenn. His energy, commitment, and desire to grow seedlings for reforestation impressed me. My career followed a similar path, so it was easy to connect with Glenn during the early part of his career. Please know that there are many colleagues and friends who are better off for knowing Glenn. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Keith McClain, RPF Sherwood Park, Alberta

Glenn smiled and said, “Just think. We’re being paid to do something we’d do for free.” I’ll never plant another tree without thinking of Glenn.
