Renske “Renee” Schaap entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday January 26th, 2024 surrounded by her family at the age of 88. Renee was born in The Netherlands, daughter of the late Johannes and Lieukje Monsma. Devoted wife of the late Jacobus. Together they emigrated to Canada where they were blessed with 3 daughters, Joanne (Larry) Jack, Diana Schaap, and Jacqueline (John) Treen. She will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren Shannon (Stoni), James (Jenn), Amanda, Sarah, Michelle (Cole) and Juliana. Adored Oma to great grandchildren Kaylee, Emma, Gavin and Scarlett. Survived by sisters-in-law in the Netherlands Jellie Monsma and Trudy Schaap. She will be fondly remembered by her many beloved nephews, nieces, friends and church family. A private funeral was held on January 31st, 2024. A Celebration of Renee’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17th at the Bowmanville Baptist Church located at 2606 Concession Road 3, Bowmanville, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Her legacy of kindness and compassion to all those she touched with her smile and words of wisdom will forever live on, she lived an amazing full life of adventure and creativity. A soul such as her will forever be missed. Sending love and hugs from myself and my boys. May she finally be with all the Monsma's and Shapps that went before her and our Lord father. Give my dad John Monsma a big hug and tell him he's forever loved and missed and hope I've made him proud.
On behalf of so many of Jacquie’s work colleagues at Murray McKinnon Foundation, we wish to express our deepest condolences to the entire family. We got to know dear Renske through Jacquie’s many mom stories, some really funny ones. Her strength is always what stood out. Prayers for peace and comfort to you Jacquie, Joanne and Diana (families) at this time.

We always loved having you and your family visiting at the farm. It filled our lives with added sunshine and joy. I will always remember my summer holidays at your place in Bowmanville as well. Give my love to mom, dad, John, Ted, when you see them and to Bart give him a kiss and tell him I miss him so much and will always love him, but I’m ok now, so please don’t worry❤️

I will miss your mom but she is in my heart. I always loved visited them and the many laughs we had with the both of them.
