Passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital on January 5, 2024. Born in Enfield Middlesex, England on April 4, 1926.
Served in the British Army, the London (UK) Metropolitan Police, and the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a small business owner in Trenton, Ontario for many years until his second retirement.
John was always willing to give anything a try and made the most of his life up until a few days before his passing. He was an active member of the Cobourg Legion where he enjoyed playing cards with his many friends.
Predeceased by first wife Mary Kennedy Docherty, and four of his sisters, he is survived by his youngest sister, Anna Barrett (John). He will be missed and remembered fondly by his wife Margaret (Goeree); his children Catriona May (David), Fiona Spencer, and Stanley Wright (Heide); grandchildren Aaron (Lise) and Morgan May; Braden Spencer; Angela, Janine, and Sue Wright; and seven great-grandchildren. And, by Margaret’s children and grandchildren: daughters Audra Leather (Chris) and Annet Hunter and their children William (Breanne) and Dan (Stephanie) Leather, and Ben and Jesse Hunter.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Cobourg Legion on Thursday April 4th, 2024 from 12 - 4 pm., which would have been John's 98th birthday
