Peacefully passed at home, on Friday, January 12, 2024, in his 100th year. Beloved husband of the late Betty (nee Towndrow). Loving father of the late Deborah Ann Walker and Janice (Dick) van Delft. Dear grandfather of Rachael Arcand, Matthew Arcand, Sean (Erin Hyde) van Delft, Jessica (Daryl Kailan) van Delft, and great grandfather of Lucas Gray, Sam Gray, Ryker Kailan and Charley Kailan. Brother of the late Harry (the late Betty) and the late Richard (the late Shirley). Charles will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.
Charles enlisted during WWII in the RAF as a bomb aimer on the Lancaster heavy bomber flying over 30 missions. Towards the end of the war, he was involved in dropping food over the Netherlands in “Operation Manna”.
After the war he continued his education and obtained his CPA credentials. He worked as a CPA during his entire career working at various companies including United Tire which had a manufacturing facility in Cobourg. He was an active member of the Roseneath community, including serving as the treasurer of St. James Anglican church for many years as well as being a director of the Roseneath Agricultural Society.
A private family service will take place in the spring. Donations to St James Anglican Church, Roseneath, or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
We've only now found out that Charlie passed on early in 2024. We feel privileged to have known him. What What an interesting man with such wonderful stories to share! We enjoyed bowling with Charlie for several years, as recently as 2018 when he was already 94. Charlie was a true gentleman and I treasure the time we were able to spend together. Jo-Anne and Bob Gannon

To Charlie's family - Charlie was a very good friend of mine. We were only a couple of months apart in age, so we never ran out of things to talk about. Always kind and thoughtful, he will be dearly missed. Beth Bryan
