Robert ‘Bob’ George Hill, age 74, passed away in Cobourg peacefully on Saturday, January 13th surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born to Ann and Lorne of Colborne on July 23, 1949. Bob is survived by his boys John (Sheila) and Chris (Cathy), his grandkids Ben and Abbie and his brothers Ron (Belinda) and John (Roxann). Bob was preceded in death, all too recently, by his daughter Leanne age 46 and his brother Gerry age 19.
Bob graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Economics before beginning a career in sales. Early in life, Bob also satiated his lifelong passion for politics, serving for a number of years on Colborne town council. In his thirties Bob fed his entrepreneurial appetite by building and operating a number of mini-storages, alongside a medical supply company. In his forties Bob went back to school, obtaining his degree in Social Studies from York University, before spending the balance of his working life with the Children’s Aid Society.
Bob was creative at heart. An artist (credited for design of Colborne’s official logo) and a guitar player, Bob loved nothing more than hitting the open road to see one of his favourite bands with those closest to him.
All who knew Bob would characterize him as a kind, generous and above all resilient man. Despite his lengthy battle(s) with illness, Bob maintained a sunny and engaging disposition. He will be remembered for his unwavering positivity and his zeal for life through his final days.
Funeral service to be held at St. Mary’s church in Grafton on Saturday, January 27 at 11a.m.

Sorry for your loss

Sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I grew up almost as a brother because Jerry was my best friend until his death in 1979. We were close families as my Dad built Bob and Suzanne's first house on Scott St. in Colborne. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and Ron and the Hill families. Our deepest sympathy is with you Linda Osborne and Rick Teal.
I miss Bob and all the memories I have of him when he was at CAS. I miss his intelligent wit, humor and story-telling. I also remember his kindness and concern for others. I loved the movies and concerts that Bob arranged to be played during lunch, complete with popcorn. I loved the funny videos Bob put together - magic. There are people who come and go at CAS but Bob is well remembered and loved. My sympathies go to Bob's family and close friends.
So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Worked with him for many years at Northumberland CAS. Bob was a kind and caring man with a passion for protecting children.
Bob & I were close friends in the high school years in Brighton Ontario and a few years beyond , afterwich we both went in separate directions. I was only to reconnect with Bob 2 years ago and was so thankful for that time. I only found out about Bob's passing 3 days ago - I am so sorry to have received that news . May God's blessing be upon Bob - I know I will never forget those special times we had together .
I am truly filled with sadness to hear of Bob's passing. My condolences to the family and as a fellow work colleague, I can say he was one of the best. Great sence of humor and always looked after those that needed help. Rest my friend. K.H.
I have many memories with the Hill family. My deepest condolences to all of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Fond memories of the Hill family sitting in the pew beside the Roddy clan every Sunday at our little church. I had a nice chat with Bob at a Colborne anniversary a few years ago . Sincere condolences to his family! Ursula Roddy Clark
Our sincere condolences to Chris and John and their families as well as brothers Ron and Jack. We remember Bob as a neighbour, a councillor, and a loving father to his children. He served his community with pride, always trying to do what was best for all. A good man!

Please accept my condolences on Bob's passing. I have fond memories of growing up with Bob in Colborne. It's certainly been a difficult few months for the Hill family. I pray that things will get only brighter from this moment forward.

My sincerest condolences to the Hill family.
Dear John, Chris and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Bob, or “ Bobino” ( as i liked to call him) truly was a kind, compassionate, generous man with a wicked sense of humour…We became close friends while working together at CAS and also enjoyed driving for hours in his cool Mercedes coupe with the top down, and listening to music. Bob was always willing to help and would stay behind if we had to work late at the office, to make sure that we would be safe ... he was a great story teller , loved to laugh and share his love of music and he taught many of us the importance of self care . He often spoke of you all with much love and pride..He was greatly missed when he retired in 2015 but he will be forever remembered for the great man that he was. Take good care, Isabelle
So very sad the hear of John’s fathers passing. Our deepest condolences to the family.
