Emma Hughes - January 13, 2024

Aunty Di...your parents loved and missed you. The planning that we went through when Aunty Di was coming to visit. I always felt close to you, thought you understood me growing up, somethings I went through. Our Christmas Day phone call to Canada was always a highlight and the packages of bubble gum ? my first trip on an aeroplane was to see you ?. When you came to visit the first 'royal' great nephew and took off with the baby and dogs for hours ? As a married women out in Northern Ireland I felt you were the only one who understood what I went through, some dark times. You coming over after Erin was born, meant so much to me. ❤️

David Russell - January 13, 2024

Diane was the youngest of three children born to William and Rita Russell. Diane was born in Gosport in 1947. In the early years after her father retired from the navy we lived in a number of Public Houses in Gosport and Portsmouth. At senior school Diane became a successful athlete. On starting work she joined Brickwoods Brewery as a secretary before marring her late husband Dave Crutchley. In the 1970 Diane and Dave with a young family made the decision emigrate to Canada, for a better life. This decision proved to be successful allowing them to send their son to university. Diane joined in with the local community helping in schools and charity shops. On the death of her husband Dave, Diane relocated to Port Hope where she met and make some lovely friends . We were always hearing about her life at Port Hope during our video chats with her and would like to thank all the people there for their company, friendship during her time there. God Bless my little sister, now at rest. Dave & Ann Russell

Lesley Barclay - January 13, 2024

I love the picture you chose as it captures who she was. I love the cheeky grin on her face. Jeannette, Dianne and I spent a lot of time together during Covid. Our afternoon teas saved our sanity. We were both into the TV show Line of Duty and our conversations about it drove Jeannette crazy. While she was in Ed’s House, we played Scrabble on line. She loved to beat me. She won two games to my one. Her mind was sharp.Half way through our fourth game she became too weak to continue. She loved her family and they were her priority. She will be greatly missed in the “complex”.
