Cheryl Lynn Gzik

July 22, 1956 - December 18, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Lynn Gzik (SILVER), on Monday December, 18th 2023 at Ed's House in Cobourg, at the age of 67, with her daughters, mother, and husband by her side.

Cheryl fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was given a prognosis of less than a year, she proved with a forever positive attitude and a fighting spirit, that one year could turn into three…Cheryl was a true warrior, she kept her head held high, with a smile and her positive attitude was beaming each and every day.

Cheryl was the loving mother of Angela (Brad), Michelle (Scott) and cherished “Nan” to Tia, Ava and Hayley, loved daughter of Donna Silver and the late Gord Silver and beloved wife of Robert Gzik. She also leaves behind her Nephew, Jordan Roemer and Great nephew Bennett, mother in law Ruth Gzik, her step children Marty (Melissa) Gzik, Melissa Gzik, and step grandson, Myles.

Cheryl lived her life to the absolute fullest. Her love for all things in life was undeniable. She loved her career, her retirement, her motorcycle rides, and her travel adventures. Cuba and the people in Holguin held a very special place in her heart. Cheryl loved the holidays, never allowing anyone to be alone. Her extended family of daughters, friends and others she held so dear, meant the world to her.

Anyone looking to donate in Cheryl’s honour, we would appreciate any amount to be donated to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, as they played a tremendous role in the peace and comfort of Cheryl’s last days with us here on Earth.

Family, friends and others whose lives Cheryl touched, are invited to celebrate her life, on Saturday January 27th, 2024, at The Mill Restaurant and Golf Course from 1pm to 4pm.

She will be greatly missed by all

I'm so saddened to hear of Cheryl's passing. My sincerest sympathy to her family during this difficult time ahead. I knew Cheryl by working with her at the Board office at KPRDSB. She was a lovely, kind, and always had a smile for everyone. A real loss to the community. Hold onto the memories close to your heart.

Tim Glass - January 23, 2024

Really sorry to learn of Cheryl’s passing. I worked with her on the executive committee of the motorcycle club for a number of years. She was the best Prez ever. Focussed, eye on the ball, always prepared with an agenda for our meetings. But also warm and kind to everyone, she made the club a welcoming place for all members. She participated in all of our group rides and luncheons and was equally comfortable with one-on-ones or making a speech to a large group. When she decided to hang up the helmet, it turned out that she was irreplaceable, and so we ended up disbanding the club. My condolences to Rob and the rest of the family. Tim Glass
