It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion I. Hartford (MacFarlane) on December 18, 2023 at Ed’s House in Cobourg. She was the beloved wife of Rupert Hartford for 66 years. Dear Mother of, “the kids”, Anita (Terry) Shannon and Ian Hartford. Cherished Grandmother of Garrett and Paige Shannon. She is survived by her sister Mae Ward of Georgetown and predeceased by her sister Margaret Yabsley and half brother, Bruce Hope.
Marion was very active in her community. She was a dedicated member of Roseneath United Church and the Roseneath Agricultural Society. She was a 50 year Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 279 in Warkworth.
She was a founding member of the Warkworth Perfect Pie Contest. She refused to enter the contest, because she was helping organize or judge the pies, but her pastry was legendary.
Marion and Rupert worked side by side to make a living, a loving home and an impact in their community.
For those who were fortunate enough to visit the Hartford Home, you were always greeted with love, open arms and the smell of home cooking. No one ever left hungry, Marion made sure of that!
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Roseneath United Church at 1:00pm followed by interment at Stone’s Cemetery in Warkworth on Saturday May 25th, her Birthday.
Donations in Marion’s memory to Roseneath United Church or Ed’s House would be appreciated by the family.

A wonderful woman.💞
I adored that lady. She was so genuine. Her love of life and family, awe inspiring. The quick wit and quips, kept you on your toes. Those eyes that just plain sparkled, and that mischievous little smile that so often graced her face... glorious! She could be "gail force winds" or a "gentle breeze", all depending on the situation. Could talk circles around a person BUT ALWAYS would lend a listening ear. A friend. God's strength and comfort to you all. Julie
