William Lawrence "Larry" Cann

February 7, 1950 - December 12, 2023

William Lawrence Cann, 73, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023, at Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.

Larry started retirement 7 years ago with plaque to his wife, which read, “You are my bucket list” and true to those words was an excellent husband and family man during his wonderful retirement years together.

He came into this world as the eldest, born on February 7, 1950, to Leo and Jean Cann in the town of Peterborough, Ontario.

He is survived by his proud family of; wife Susan, children Erin and Adam (Sun Hyoung Kim), brother, Raymond and sister Judy (Fred), granddaughter, Hailey and numerous nieces and nephews. He also had numerous lifelong friends.

Larry's legacy of career achievements reads like a captivating motivational best-seller, a testament to his unwavering dedication and exceptional talents to work, learn, manage, lead and adapt. His impact was profound extending far and wide, touching the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

Starting from humble beginnings as the son-in-law of a pipe fitter's daughter, Larry's journey led him to become one of the driving forces behind the remarkable transformation of UA Local. His relentless pursuit of excellence in every facet of UA life earned him the profound respect of all who crossed his path.

Mention the name Larry Cann to any member, and you'll be regaled with an abundance of stories, each a testament to his unyielding commitment to making UA Local the resounding success it is today. Larry Cann's list of accomplishments varies from person to person, yet if you were to distill it down to its essence, you would uncover a one-of-a-kind blend of qualities: accountability, inspiration, motivation, brilliance, warmth, passion, wit, and unwavering loyalty.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday July 16th from 4pm - 7pm in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King Street East Cobourg. We will raise our glasses and gather to share stories and celebrate the remarkable life of Larry Cann, one of the most extraordinary individuals to have graced this earth. His memory will forever inspire us to strive for greatness and leave a lasting impact on the world around us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brain Injury Canada.

Susan, I have known Larry for over 45 yrs. Working along side with him within the Local, on many committees, attended many conferences with him, attended U.A. He was a great mentor for to me throughout my apprenticeship and beyond. He would give me a nudge when needed. It was need a few times. He was always there for me when it came to the UA.
