Laurie Charlene Gourd

August 3, 1972 - December 2, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Laurie Charlene Gourd (nee Davey) announces her unexpected passing Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the age of 51. Cherished and loved wife to Allan Gourd of 23 years. Loved mother to Amber and Drew and loved step-mother to Jordan. Beloved daughter to Bob. Laurie is the daughter-in-law of Carolyn (Everett) Davies and loved daughter-in-law to Allan and Debbie Gourd. Sister to Mark (Susie), Elizabeth, Michael and sister-in-law to Lisa and Michael. She was best friends with Shawn and Vicki Rowson for over 30 years. It brings peace to Laurie’s family knowing that awaiting her arrival, with big open arms, was her mother Audrey and her uncles Wayne and Doug. Laurie was a ray of sunshine to all that knew her, a social butterfly within her community. There is not a list long enough to mention all those who knew and loved her deeply. She will be greatly missed by her YMCA family, the many children within her community who she cared for as well as all her wonderful friends and extended family. Laurie spent her career devoted to caring for children. She was a devoted child care supervisor to the YMCA for 18 years. She had a magnetic personality and a smile that would light up a room the moment she walked in. Allan and Laurie would often walk through any store with in the community and Laurie would most certainly know at least one person along their journey. A celebration of Laurie’s life will take place at the Best Western – Ball Room 930 Burnham Street, Cobourg, ON Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11:00 – 3:00 PM. Please join the family in remembering the exceptionally well lived and well-loved life of Laurie. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Laurie is such a beautiful soul, full of life and love. I remember one day talking w Laurie at Walmart, she was talking about her kids Amber and Drew, beaming with pride. Even through so heartache and fear, Laurie still chose to see the bright side. This earth has lost a beautiful butterfly. Now Amber can spread her wings and fly.
