It is with heavy hearts the family of Robert “Rob” Adams announces his passing at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 86. He is the beloved husband of Jean (nee Bowman) with whom he recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together, Jean and Rob raised their two sons Rob (Cathy) and Jim (Danielle). Rob loved his family and most especially loved his grandchildren Katie (Anthony), Kelly (Brandon), Jenny and Mandy as well as his great-grandchildren Mya, Makenzie and Josie. Rob proudly held the title of world’s greatest Papa and Great Papa. The thought of not having Rob around is painful, but he lived a great life. He loved his family deeply. Rob was trained as a boat builder and was a well-known cabinet maker. He was born in his family home, lived, raised his family and created his business all in Gores Landing. Rob’s family would like to extend their most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff and nurses of Northumberland Hills Hospital. Most especially to Dr. Xi and Dr. Seidler. Your gentle care and compassion for Rob did not go unnoticed. A celebration of Rob’s life will take place Friday, December 8, 2023 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home – Reception Centre from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome to gather to laugh, cry and share all of their most beloved stories of Rob. A private family graveside service will be held at Cobourg Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

We are sad to hear of Rob's passing. He adorned our house with his excellent woodworking talents. book cases, kitchen cupboards, screened in porch, french doors, etc. He left his mark on our life in many ways.

I fondly remember Rob from my days as principal of George Hamilton Public School in Welcome. Rob was my go-to carpenter for special woodworking projects - he was an excellent craftsman and a wonderful person to work with. My sympathies to his family.

So sad to hear this news. Rob was one of my childhood playmates…always kind and fun to be with. Gore’s Landing, beside Rice Lake was a wonderful place to grow up. Dear Jean, Rob, Jim and families. The world has lost a very special person and we are very fortunate to have had the distinct pleasure of knowing him and your wonderful family. Our sons will always be greatful for the chance of working and learning with Rob and his kindness. He was indeed a mastercraftsman and with his perfect partner raised a loving family; the greatest legacy! Our hearts are with you in your time of sorrow and know that we will never forget and be forever grateful for all the help and kindness you have extended to our family over the years. We will miss all the Rice lake boating excursions and trips up and down the Trent Canal with you but the fondess of memories will prevail as they were the happiest of times.

I am heart broken for you Jean, Robbie, Jim and families. It feels like a main part of “the Landing” has passed away. Jean, you and Rob were one of the first families to welcome Ian and I into the community many years ago, and over the years you watched out for us. Often running the boys to school when they missed the bus or being a safe place to land for when no one was home after school. Dear Adams family, we are very sorry for your incredible loss. Your Dad was a wonderful role model who instilled a great work ethic combined with a human spirit that nurtured everyone. We are the blessed recipients of this legacy from his son Rob. Our house is also a tribute to his life as Rob senior built our kitchen & bathroom cabinets 47 years ago. He will be missed but he lives on in his entire family.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Rob. He and Jean were our cottage family. Rob took such care in attending to all of our needs and desires at Rice Lake. He was a master at woodworking and boating and we relied on him and Jean for most of our needs there. My parents, Gordon and Iris Stack, were good friends with Rob and Jean. They had many boating adventures together. Rob’s memory will be forever in our hearts. We have a beautiful wall unit in our home that he built and it reminds me of him each time I see it.
