It is with heavy hearts that the family of James “Jim” Manning announce his passing at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the age of 88. Loved spouse to Linda Manning (nee Hutsell). Cherished father to Bruce (Geraldine), David and Laura (Michael). Proud grandfather to Chad (Sarah), Byron, Aaron, Dylan and great-grandfather to Owen and Hailey. Jim will be greatly missed by his sister Jacqui and pre-deceased by his sister Elizabeth. Pre-deceased by his parents Russell and Rosamonde Manning. Jim will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
James was born in Cobourg, attended Cobourg Collegiate and studied Electrical Engineering at Queen’s University. He worked as a draftsman, a computer consultant, an Ontario Government Management Board employee, and the owner of Mantronics Computers in Cobourg. A true Renaissance man, he built and maintained computers in the 1960’s, collected cameras, was an amateur photographer, a poet, and one who could fix, repair and restore almost anything. For many years he sang bass with the Oriana Singers and with Trinity Church Choir until his hospitalization. He was a long-standing member of the Cobourg Family Y who ran many 10K races, marathons, and duathlons, the last one being at age 76. He was also an eclectic reader of philosophy, psychology, murder mysteries and poetry. Most of all he loved and supported his family in their varied careers and interests.
A service will be held On Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Trinity United Church, Cobourg at 3:00PM with a reception to follow. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Church.

To the Manning Family. We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Manning's passing. What an active and interesting man your husband/father was. We have enjoyed the visits at the orchard over the years . Wishing you all solice in your memories.
Linda and family Just learned about Jimes' death. As I age I'm learning how difficult the loss of life-long routines, friends and the deterioration in ones' facilities can be for the individual and consequently for those who care for them. Jim was special in the caring and intelligent example of a good human being that he represented. Life goes on; celebrate the good times which include good memories. Take care. Keith
My condolences to you Linda and to Bruce, David and Laura.
Dear Linda - I'm so sorry to hear that Jim has locked out. I wish you every solace. Mary Pratt Harlan
