On Sunday, November 12, 2023 Emmy McQuoid (nee Scholtes) passed peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital at the age of 84. She was the beloved wife and now guardian angel to her husband Wayne McQuoid who she shared 61years of marriage with. She will be deeply missed by her children Jim (Laurie Zabolotny) and Pam McQuoid. Loved Grandma to Ryan McQuoid, Kevin (Madison Jongsma) McQuoid, David Schapira and Jacob Schapira. Emmy was exceptionally proud to be the great-grandmother to the newest arrival to her family, Levi. Sister to Joanna, Peit, Ted, Ben, and Mary. Pre-deceased by her siblings Hank, Cory, and Nellie. Emmy will be deeply missed and forever loved by her extended European Family as well as her many friends she made along her many travels. Emmy immigrated to Canada in 1952 and married Wayne, the love of her life in 1962. Together, they Raised 2 wonderful children.
Emmy’s Nose to the grindstone never give up attitude and skillful investing allowed her and Wayne to retire at a young age providing them with the time to travel extensively to places all over the world including China, Thailand, Holland, Australia just to name a few. Emmy was a very social person, having people over for supper and a game of cards was one of her favorite things to do. quick to lend a hand and offer friendly words of advice she will be missed by many A funeral service will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM with a one-hour visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service. Friends and family will then be welcomed to the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception lounge for a celebration of Emmy’s life. Emmy’s family would ask that while missing her is painful, please try to remember the light and love she gave so many during her wonderful life. Emmy was exceptionally loved by many and she would want you all to celebrate a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Ed’s House Hospice Care Centre or a charity of your choice.

We would like to extend our sympathy to Wayne and the whole family. So sorry to hear this! We met Emmy and Wayne while “snowbirding” at Victoria Palms in January/February of 2017. Tho we stayed at another park the next couple years, we went back to visit with them again. They were both very welcoming and friendly. Emmy, especially had many stories to share of their travels. We were impressed she could remember the names of places and restaurants they went to, and even what they ordered while there!! It was truly a blessing to have known her! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult days.

Dear Uncle Wayne, Jim and Pam....our hearts are broken at the news of Aunt Emmy's passing. We are so very grateful that Aunt Emmy was able to be at our very first dinner party in our new home just a couple of short months ago. She was always up for family fun. Family gatherings were always brighter when Aunt Emmy was in the room. She will be deeply missed.
Emmy is a great friend….not only to me, but in particular to all the Volunteers of the Victoria Palms Computer Club in Donna, TX. I was fortunate to work beside Emmy many mornings. We had lots of fun assisting others resolve their computing issues. We will miss her tremendously at the Computer Room and also at the bid-euchre tables. Our deepest sympathies being extended to Wayne and their son and daughter and their families. May Emmy’s soul RIP???

Wayne, Jim and Pam. We are so sorry to hear about Emmy passing away. I have such fond memories of when I worked for you at the Opera House in Colborne. Emmy certainly had a way with people and everyone quickly became a friend. She loved to entertain and was always happy to have company over! Hold your memories close and you will always find Emmy in your heart. You are in our thoughts and prayers!
