It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mum, Sheila Cummings, aged 81. Sheila was born in 1942 in St. Helens, England. Sheila left high school at age 15 to look after her younger twin sisters, obtaining her high school diploma later by going to night school. During this time, Sheila met her future husband, Len, working at Pilkington Brothers. They were married in 1965, and left England for Canada, raising their three children together. While caring for her own young family, Sheila went to Fleming College to obtain a certificate in Administration. This was Sheila’s essence, caring for others with determination to be better.
Sheila loved to cook festive meals for her family and friends. Her blueberry cheesecake in particular, was legendary. She was creative, sewing clothes, taking pottery lessons, planting flowers and drawing. She loved a good crossword puzzle and put up with the constant sport watching and talk in the household. Her family was always her first priority. She was at every important game or swim meet, cheering her children on. She was a beautiful singer and enjoyed singing in her church choir as a youth.
Sheila is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Len, and survived by her sisters, Norma (Johnny), Christine (James), her nieces and nephews and her children, Ian (Marie), Jayne (Liz), Julie (Greg), and her daughter in law,
Sheri. In her later years, it was her grandchildren, Liam and Van that brought her great joy.
