Born on July 20, 1939 John grew up with his parents, John Gerald and Helen Eagleson just outside of Grafton by the Eagleson bridge (aptly named after his father) where he lived all of his life. He met his beloved wife Monica (Jane) at an early age and the two of them began their life together with daughter Dale and son Greg Eagleson. Their lives were busy with John and the kid’s playing baseball and hockey along with many great family camping trips to Shelter Valley. John also enjoyed many rounds of golf at the “Mill” with his close friends. John was very outgoing with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humour. He spent his early adult years working with his father at Eagleson Sand and Gravel, in later years becoming the Eagleson dump. John later worked part time for the township of Haldimand and was able to enjoy many wonderful vacations in Barbados where he and Monica (Jane) made wonderful memories with their many friends on the island. John was also a life long member of the Grafton Legion, Branch 580. John was pre-deceased by his father John Gerald Eagleson, mother Helen Eagleson, wife Monica (Jane) Eagleson, daughter Dale Curtis and son-in law Rod Curtis. He is survived by son Greg (Karen) Eagleson and grand daughters Tera Drost (Jason), Danielle Eagleson, Erinn Ricica (Mike), grandsons Ryan Curtis (Carmen), Ty Curtis (Chanel), and by cherished great grandchildren Westan, Keegan, Lincoln, Brooke, Reid, Kimberly, Brandt, Fendt, Mikayla and Allyson. John will be missed dearly. We all loved you so much.

Greg, Ryan, Erinn, Ty and all the family, our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. John will be remembered fondly and missed by all.
Our deepest condolences go to the family of John. He was a wonderful man with an endearing fun personality. We all loved John at the Township of Haldimand, then becoming Alnwick Haldimand, for his help on many things throughout the years. A man who you could count on. There was never a day he wouldn’t come in with a big smile to make your day and always leaving with a skip in his step. May you rest well now John for all your giving throughout the years, and your heartaches of recent years. I know how happy you will be to see Jane, Dale and all the other friends and family you have lost along the way. I can picture Jane and your daughter running to give you those long wished for hugs. It will be a party for sure. Enjoy my friend, you deserve nothing but bliss.

Godspeed John! You lived life to the hilt. I remember years ago that you were the host of a bbq unlike any other. You roasted the meat underground and eventually you brought it to the surface. What a magician’s act and the taste was superb. I had never seen the like of it before nor since. John Eagleson, a groundbreaker and a celebrator of life at every level!
We send our heartfelt sympathies to to Greg, his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We knew both JR and Jane through the leagion and as friends. Playing cards, darts and having a visit when they came to read the water meter. JR’s humour will be missed by all thoughts who knew, loved and respected him.
