On her own terms on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in her 75th year, surrounded by the comfort of family. Pat was the cherished daughter of Barbara and the late George Johnston and beloved partner of the late Carl Wilce. She will be dearly missed by her brother Dana and sister-in-law Janice and their children Kristina (Chris), Jocelyn (Craig) and her great-niece, Addison. She will be fondly remembered by The Wilce family and many cousins and friends.
Pat graduated from East Northumberland Secondary School in Brighton and headed to Ridgetown Agricultural College, the University of Guelph, and finally Centralia Agricultural College where she remained after graduation as an employee for several years before returning to the Northumberland area to work as a veterinary technician and research assistant. Pat took the opportunity to be a Professor of Animal Nursing at St. Lawrence College in Kingston and then returned to the Colborne area to work as a medical receptionist with Dr. Eberlie until his retirement. She finished her off-farm career as the CEO at the Colborne Public Library before finally devoting herself full-time to farming with her partner, Carl.
Pat was very involved in many organizations and dedicated herself to her community through her decades of support and leadership of the Apple Blossom Thyme Festival, the Northumberland Cattlemen’s Association, Northumberland Agriculture Awareness Committee, Northumberland Federation of Agriculture, the Eden, Dundonald and Shiloh United Churches, as a proud member of the Cramahe Horticultural Society, and was awarded Colborne Rotary Citizen of the Year, presented the Order of Cramahe award for volunteerism and community building, and inducted, with Carl, into the Agricultural Wall of Fame for Northumberland County.
Pat lived a legacy of good deeds and good thoughts. She was a strong and brilliant woman that earned respect and friendship all along her journey.
Friends are invited to attend interment and service at Shiloh Cemetery on Saturday, November 4th at 11am followed by a celebratory lunch at Dundonald Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity that reminds you of Pat, would be appreciated.

Condolences from all the staff at Colborne Library - Pat was a wonderful, positive, informed and regular visitor to both the Colborne and Castleton branch libraries - she had great ideas and was always zooming around in her wheelchair at the Colborne branch and never, ever complained about the logistics of it all. We will miss her visits and would like to acknowledge that she was a former Colborne Library CEO, I believe when the library was housed in the Municipal Townhall. Rest in Peace Pat Mary Norton, Cramahe Library CEO
