Passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, in Cobourg, in his 87th year. From his early beginnings in East York, he excelled at sports including track and field, hockey and football. He was an enthusiastic member of the Goliaths Football team at East York Collegiate Institute. He forged lifelong friendships as a member of the Kinsmen Organization and King Solomon’s Masonic Lodge, and through a long, distinguished career with London Life. Bruce will always be remembered for his cheerful outlook, sense of humor and winning smile. He connected with people and made friends wherever he went as he pursued his love of golf, hockey, cars, travel and winters in the Florida sunshine. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Bruce is survived by his wife, Bianca Birch, his children Bradley (Christy) Tye, Allison (Myles) Jasin, Curtis (Jen) Tye, his eight grandchildren, Conner, Haley, Keaton and Aidan Tye, Olivia and Phoenix Jasin, and Julian and Kiyan Birch, and the mother of his children, Marsha Durham. He was a father figure to Michael (Kate) Birch, Kyle (Yasmin) Birch, and Andrew Birch. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Dorothy Tye and brother Brian (Pam) Tye. A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Sick Kids Foundation, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or Diabetes Canada in memory of Bruce Tye.

I send my deepest condolences to Bruce's family at this time....fondly remembering lotsa fun times years ago , especially at the campground.
A little humor doesn't hurt. I picked Bruce up one day to go for a couple of drinks & lunch. We talked about leaving about 2 hours later. I went to the washroom, he waited at the bar for me. I left the WR & went straight to my car and drove home to Wasaga Beach. About 2 hours later he phoned me. I said Hi, where are you? He said I'm still at the bar you knucklehead without a car, did you forget me? By God I did? I was thinking does that man never get enough to drink to stay so long. He & I have been laughing about that for many years. He was one of my closest Pals since way back in the 60s. He will be missed by many of us.
So sorry to hear the news of Bruce’s passing. Our thoughts are with all the family & we are remembering many happy times in the past.
