Patricia Jean Holloway

July 10, 1941 - August 14, 2023

Patricia, a beloved mother, sister and loyal friend to so many, passed away on August 14, 2023 at the age of 82. Patricia was born on July 10, 1941 in Guilford, England and then immigrated to Canada on the Queen Mary in 1946 to live her childhood years in northern Ontario before settling in Scarborough in a home her parents, Frederick and Edith Couchman (predeceased) had built. Patricia spent a great deal of her life caring for others, whether it was family members, her daughters Debbie Ann Holloway or Linda Sue Holloway (predeceased) that she loved so much, or her brother John Couchman (Sue Oram) or patients through her PSW (Personal Support Worker) career and volunteer hours; she always seemed to be helping someone. She really had the most caring, kind and compassionate heart and her incredible warmth and supportive nature made Patricia so truly beautiful inside and out. And you knew you had her attention when she looked at you with her sparkling emerald green eyes that sometimes looked blue!
Patricia was a bit of a daredevil trying various things in her life such as Bunji Jumping, riding in an Ultra-Light Plane which was basically a seat with wings, went on a Hot Air Balloon Ride in the Mountains, Helicopter ride over Toronto and of course, her many trips to ride roller coasters well into her seventies. She was also a dedicated gardener, spending many hard joyous hours digging and weeding. As she enjoyed her garden she could be found watching the birds in her yard as her bird feeders were always kept full.
Patricia had been suffering with the effects of Lewy Body Dementia for a number of years but it was still extremely hard to see her go and she battled to the end, but it was Pneumonia in the end that caused her passing. Her family & friends sincerely hope she is in a better place dancing and having a glass of wine or two while sharing some laughs with her long lost family members and close friends at a concert featuring Elvis, her favourite, especially organized for her!
In Patricia’s last year of life, she was living at either the Northumberland Regional Hospital or her nursing home where she was known for giving great bear hugs to almost everyone! Patricia will be greatly miss by many who knew her, especially her daughter Debbie Ann (Debs as Patricia call her), her brother John Couchman and her nephews Robert, Michael and Andrew. So until we can meet again, we look forward to getting another one of Patricia’s wonderful hugs! A private family service was held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., E. Cobourg.
Patricia will always be remembered and is in our hearts forever.
