It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Alan Mounsteven on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his home in his 76th year. He is loved and sadly missed by his wife, Jeanne of over 50 years. Loving father of Shaun [Laura] of Carrying Place and Robin [Jacqueline] of Port Sydney. Amazing Grandfather to Emma, Olive and Thatcher. Lovingly remembered by his brother, Grant [Kathy], sister-in-law Jacqueline and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his brother Ross and sister Catherine.
Al’s warmth and good-natured approach in life will be missed. Always appreciated for his ability to brighten the room with song, or laughter, after a well-timed joke.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday September 23, 2023 at 2pm at Eden United Church, 13784 County Rd 21 Dundonald. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Friends of Dundonald.
Gone but not forgotten.
On behalf of Cramahe Library staff I would like to extend our sincere condolences to Jeanne and her family - Alan was such a positive and gentle spirit and always had a joke and a smile for staff - we will miss his regular visits and great nature.

Alan was a remarkable man for many reasons - he was warm, kind, funny, and always made everyone feel better just by being around him. He achieved many wonderful things in his life, but his greatest accomplishment and legacy is his family. On a personal note, Al made me feel like family from the first time I met him, and it was always evident to me that Shaun is an amazing husband and father because he was raised by a man who set the example. Always loved and never forgotten. We will miss you so much.
We met Alan and Jeanne when we were fortunate enough to have their son Shaun join our family. Alan was a devoted husband, proud dad, and special grandpa. He had such a great sense of humour and was met with kindness and loved by everyone who met him. He and his sons loved sports, whether they were participants or spectators. Our sincere condolences to Jeanne, Shaun, Laura, Emma, Rob, Jaqueline, Olive, Thatcher, and extended family and friends. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Alan will never be forgotten by all who had the good fortune to have known him.

I met Al and Jeanne through the Ganaraska Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus, Port Hope. Al sang Lead and was being encouraged to be part of a quartet. We travelled most Tuesdays to and from chorus together. When I first joined the chorus, Al would visit in his "older" convertible just to say Hi. He really loved that car. Always ready with a joke or "one liners" that broke everyone up. Al was a good Friend and I will miss him. Al, you are missed. Thanks for those memories my Friend. In Harmony Gord

Alan was a great guy and a good friend as well as a good singer and we will miss him very much. All the best to the family.
Al, Shaun and I enjoyed watching the 2017 RBC Cup finals where the hometown Cobourg Cougars defeated the Brooks (AB) Bandits 3-2 in overtime! … the young rising star defenceman for the Bandits was Cale Makar (2022 Conn Smythe Trophy winner). We all marvelled at the young Calgarian’s skill - it’s so rewarding to experience a great hockey game with folks steeped in this Canadian tradition. Al declared his defiant faith in the Toronto Maple Leafs - then would recite every “dumb” trade they had made since the Harold Ballard “reign of error”! His smartass son stated “to bad there are no colour photos of the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup!” All in good fun! To Shaun, Laura and Emma- I am so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourselves and your extended family. Be well. Stephen Lollar (Sabres fan!)!
Dear Jeanne and family my deepest condolences and sympathy in your loss. Al was a great guy
