The family of Jane DeJong would like to announce with amazing Grace the very peaceful passing at Northumberland Hills Hospital on August 11th, 2023. She was in her 90th year. Jane was born in Gerkesklooster Netherlands on October 11th , 1933 to Jacob and Evelyn Greydanus, their third child and the oldest daughter of 12 children. She immigrated from the Netherlands with her family in March 1950 to Canada arriving at Pier 21 in Nova Scotia. The family moved to Brockville where the sponsor family resided. On March 1, 1952 she married her faithful husband Henry of 59 years. After a couple years of farming near Domville they purchased their own dairy farm near Baltimore Ontario, where they raised their four daughters, three sons, and several foster children. In 1970 they retired into their newly built house just down the road where she lived on the farm until March 2023. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family and watching it grow. Her favorite pastimes were tending her sheep, growing flowers, watching birds, but most of all camping and fishing. The Lord lead mom & dad down a new path in their retirement years, volunteering with (WRDR), where they made many new friends, Dad rebuilding houses and mom working a kitchen like no other. Her faith was strong and loving with the Lord. He gave her the strength and comfort to endure her pain and sorrow, she walked humbly with him through her life journey. We praise the Lord for her. She is reunited with her late husband Henry DeJong. She is the dear mother of Evelyn Brinkman (John), Elizabeth Mollema (Cor), the late Theodore DeJong (Linda), John DeJong (Nellie), Lilly Weenink (Rodney), Michael DeJong (Jodi), Marjorie DeJong (the late Dave Busby). Cherished grandmother of twenty-six grandchildren (three pre-deceased), and great grandmother of forty-nine with number 50 on the way. Dear sister of five sisters and six brothers (four of which are predeceased). A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Christian Reform Church in Cobourg on Wednesday, August 16th, at 11 am. Reception to follow with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Grafton. Visitation to be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Tuesday evening, August 15th from 7 to 9 pm. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to World Renew Disaster Relief.
My late condolence to the Dejong family. I am one of those foster children who stayed awhile with Jane and Henry (Ma and Pa). They were kind and kept me very well fed (lol), I have fond memories of the dairy and sheep farm. Sorry to learn about Theo's passing too.
Nellie and family I send condolence on the passing of a Woman who lived a long life. Celebration of a life well lived.
Rest in peace

to all the DeJongs we share our sympathy and sorrow as we remember Jane who helped our experience at Grace CRC see the beauty and the strength of that faith community. Without her presence during our time there our experience would have been greatly diminished
Marj, sorry to hear about your mom.
Dear Evelyn & John and other De Jong family members: We offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother. Praying that in the days and weeks to come, you may find your strength, hope, comfort, trust, and courage in Jesus Christ our Saviour. May you live and follow the legacy example your dear mother was. -James & Corrie-
Much sympathy in the passing of your mom, dear cousins. Its always encouraging to me that the Spirit of God calls it falling asleep in Jesus for those who seek him as she did. From sleep we awake to a new day, and when we sleep in him the new day is better than the best day here. I knew her as a pretty no nonsense woman, but a momma bear with the best of them. May the Lord grant her last words Wednesday much gospel power, as she speaks from the grave. May all be led to think on the day the graves will open, and rejoice with tears.
Our thoughts are with you all and praying that you feel the strong arms of Jesus comforting you through this time!
Dennis and I send our thoughts and condolences to Marj and her family with the passing of their mother
When my mom suddenly became a widow (8 young children), we soon bought a farm near Uncle Henry and Aunt Jane DeJong. They helped us run our farm for many years. Aunt Jane was an important part of my life - her gardens, her ability to fix all sorts of things, her celebration of life. I was hoping to see her on my Ontario trip next month. My condolences to all of her family members, all of whom she held so dearly in her heart.
Dave and I would like to send our condolences to Marj and the rest of her family♥️♥️♥️♥️
I offer my sincere condolences to the DeJong family on the passing of the amazing matriarch of your family.
