DINGMAN, Joan Marlene (nee Waldie) – a.k.a. “Joanie” died suddenly on June 3, 2023 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the age of 59. Beloved mother of Stephen and Matthew (Brittany). Loving grandmother of Claire and Georgia. Cherished daughter of John “Ken” and Edna (nee Jaynes) Waldie. Dear sister of Karen (Jeff) Turner and Janice (Brian) Thompson. Aunt of Amanda Thompson, David (Jennifer) Thompson, Jessica (Jordon Resendes) Turner and Victoria (Brenden Josefik) Turner; and great-aunt of Tristan Thompson, and Taylor Thompson. Joan will be sadly missed by her many aunts and uncles, cousins, wonderful care givers, and friends. She was married to Steven Dingman, had several sister and brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews on the Dingman side. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Cobourg. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 25 2023 at 2 p.m. in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home chapel with reception to follow and internment of cremated remains at a later date. Joan’s favourite colour was purple so if you own some purple clothing, please wear it! Joan typically wouldn’t suggest anyone donate to any particular cause because she felt everyone was deserving, so feel free to take the opportunity to make a donation to a charity you and Joan would like; or simply, in “Joan-style”, pay forward, be nice to people, especially those with challenges.

Joan has often been in my thoughts over the last 18 months or so. We met when my mom was at Extendicare, and Joan and I had some pretty good chats on the front patio. I didn't know her well but she had an impact on me - her bravery, for starters, but her light and spirit impacted me too. She will not be forgotten, and I will think of her as I 'pay forward' in her honour.
My deepest condolences to the families of Joan in memory of her passing. May her warm smile and kindred soul remain in your hearts forever. RIP Joanie.

Sincere condolences to Ken, Edna, and Family. Joan, a beautiful person, loved by all, will be remembered fondly.
Joan, there are so many words in the dictionary but no words left to express what to say here... Simply to say thank you for all the fun times in my care for you. Yes there were battles too but I'd say we've laughed more then we cried. Your strength of spirit has got you through so much and this last sudden battle brings you to Jesus. Have fun running free through Heavenly fields of flowers. I love you Joan and miss you, until we meet again. M

So very sorry to hear of Joan's passing. We were friends many years ago, and had gotten together with our old school chums a few times in more recent years (and of course laughed until we cried). Joan fought MS valiantly, and was a positive light always. You will be missed Joan, RIP

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Joan's passing. I was pretty much crying on her shoulder on the day we went in to Extendicare to clean my Mom's room out. I told her of my sister, Lynne's passing, just prior to my Mom's, and she was in shock. Sometimes our load seems too much to bear. Rest in Heavenly Peace, Joanie. I hope you and Lynne are having a blast. Carmel Scott.

Dear Ken & Edna, our hearts go out to you and your family at this sad time. Joan was one of a kind. She had a heart of gold and only wished the best for everyone she knew. We spent many fun times on the MS walks, at the Apple Country Jamborees and just visiting each other over the years. Whether doing my hair, going shopping or just sitting and laughing over life, she always managed to amuse me. Her tenacity for life, despite the setbacks, never failed to amaze us. We will miss our visits where we were always greeted by her smiling face. Rest in peace dear friend, you earned it.

My aunt was truly like no other. Even when her body was failing her, you could see such a fierceness in her eyes that refused to be put out. The last time I saw her she was asking me so many questions about my future travels and my job and if I was happy; she was always thinking of others. I’ll miss her every day ❤️
