It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Brian Heins of cancer at Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg, Ontario on June 1, 2023. David was born in Toronto, Ontario to Shirley and Kenneth Heins. He was the younger brother of Ken (Susan) and older brother to Tim (Lucie).
He will be dearly missed by his family, both related by blood and those related in spirit. Husband and soulmate to Wendy Frances Heins of 41 years; father to his son, Andrew David Heins (Sayema); and Poppa to his beloved grandchildren, Dean and Rowan.
David’s passions were his family, his property, his cars, and his motorcycle. He will be remembered as a man who could do anything. Entrepreneur, engineer, mechanic, architect, skilled motorist and coach, he would take on any project, regardless of scale, to an exacting (and occasionally maddening) level of attention to detail. Whether it was going an extra mile or a quarter of an inch, David made sure it was done to his standards.
He was a protector that went out of his way to look after those close to him, but rarely asked for help himself. Even in sickness, he tried his best to protect us. For a man of so many abilities and talents, his greatest achievement may be the strong, loving family he leaves behind.
A special thank you to Dr. Tisher and nurse Cailin who provided such kind and compassionate care to David at home, and the staff and volunteers of Ed’s House for the unwavering dignity and respect shown to David and his family during his journey.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice.
Heart felt condolences, To you and yours . David is truly missed in all those he touched, as for me it was when I was a young man, In Rexdale . David influenced my life deeply he showed me that a job worth doing was worth doing right and spent many days and evenings rebuilding that MGB in the parking lot. When I was seeking my niche in this life , he gently nudge into HVAC. I took his advise and as always his teachings and friendship have never left me. I remember the absolute joy and love in his face from day one when he met Wendy . Truly was love at first sight. He was on top of the world , or so I thought until his son was born. That day his life was complete (his words) It warms my heart to know that he had a complete and loving life with his "soulmate" He will live on in my memories and thoughts . Again my deeply felt condolences to you and yours Mike Chiasson

Dear Wendy, I have just heard of Dave’s passing. My heart goes to you and the family. I have fond memories of Dave from my teen years in Aylmer, Quebec. Such a wonderful, friendly and loving person and always enjoyed his laugh. He is now among his beautiful family whom I had the chance to have known.

Andrew and Wendy- you and David were such a part of my childhood. I'm sorry to to hear of his passing. The obituary encapsulates the man I knew, and as a boss working with him as his enterprises grew out of the garage and into larger successes. Along with his bike, I remember his love of classic rock and seeing others enjoy a great concert.
