Our condolences to Basil and family, we are so sorry for your loss.
Our heartfelt sympathies to your family for the loss of this beautiful lady. She will be truly missed.
Darlene, what a beautiful “Ol Boot” you were. We called each other the “Ol Boot” in all our conversations, and in our writings to and from each other, on top of when we were in person. I met Darlene, Basil, Derek, and Becky in the 80’s out in Fort McMurray. From the moment we laid eyes on each other, I knew I’d have a friend for life, and I did, except for the last day. God took you home. I believe both felt the magnanimous loss of a future time together in that moment. With my living out west on Vancouver Island, the distance was obvious, but our heart and love for one another had no distance and no time could pass that would ever change that. Every letter, or continuous Christmas card sent, Darlene would always speak of the love she felt for her family; Bas, Derek, Becky, and then once her grandchildren were born, her writing had an extra sparkle that only a Grandmother can feel. She was so proud of the life and Family she and Basil had built, and the successes they’ve all had. Darlene’s legacy will live on to eternity through the seeds of love she planted, and the roots of the family that have flourished in her husband, children, and now grandchildren. Branches will continue to bud and her legacy will reach for the stars, because all will know, Darlene was blessed to reach god’s Heaven. She’s there soaking up the stunning gardens, trails along the beautiful rivers, cutting the grass, while getting used to gentler sports, all at the same time she’s blanketed in the light and love of, Jesus. You were one of the finest, most beautiful women I have ever known, Darlene. Rest in Peace, Ya Ol Boot, you beat me to meet Jesus in person, so please ask him to save a spot beside you both on the broom-ball team for me. With great respect and deep abiding love for you, Cindy Terreberry
Unfortunately I was out of the country for 3 weeks and arrived back just after the visitation and service. I wish I could have attended. Darlene is now another piece missing from the Ste. Anne's family I was part of for 16 years. Through it I got to know her, her passion, sense of humour and love. I also got to know her family. Bas, Jake and Kelly, Becky, Maddy, Sam, Zoey, my heart goes out to you. Huge loss!

Oh my what can I say that hasn’t been said already. I loved Darlene. I love the way she loved her family, her career, her bees and flowers, her cottage, her love of water sports at the cottage, gosh, one could go on and on. The main thing I want to say is that during this long and difficult battle, with the help of Bas, the family (O’Connors and Millers) and friends she was a classy lady who always had time for others. Darlene you are at peace now and watching over us all. A big job, but you’re just the gal to keep us all in line. I miss you. Hugs
