Patricia "Pat" Anquetil

March 16, 1941 - January 11, 2023

• Patricia (Pat) Anquetil; March 16, 1941 - January 11, 2023
• To anyone who knew Pat, they were always struck by her energy and passion to compete in everything that she took on.
• Lovingly known as “Patsy” by her immediate family, she was the proud life and doubles partner to Terry (deceased), Mom to Suzanne and Corey (& Jennifer), Nanny to Suzanne’s daughters Noelle and Simone.
• She was the nucleus of her own family of 9 brothers & sisters - often hosting and cooking for the "entire team".
• In an era when it wasn’t always acceptable for a Catholic to marry a Protestant - she did it anyway & played by her own rules.
• Pat started a career with RBC as a Teller, eventually moving into an operations role for 20+ years.
• Surrounded by professional athletes and an Olympic champion father in her family, she embraced the love of sports and was a true multi-sport athlete:
• Provincial Senior Tennis Champion, setter in volleyball, catcher in baseball, point-guard in basketball and ran Track & Field.
• Pat was a true leader and helped to form the still-thriving Aurora Ladies Volleyball league.
• Pat was one of the founding members of Timberlane Tennis Club and we’ve been reminded recently how she was a mentor to many rising female tennis players at various clubs.
• She coached tennis to her son who became a national champion and to her daughter who won provincial titles.
• She beat cancer twice in her 30’s and lived on to explore some of her favourite places - Maui, Hawaii and Paris, France.
• Pat walked daily into her 80’s, and when hearing of her passing, Pat’s favourite physiotherapist, summed her up beautifully: “….Pat is hell of a woman, a tough lady and a throwback to a different time. With the grace to roll through any room. It was fantastic to have known her.”
• Pat's powerful female spirit will live on, especially through her daughter Suzanne and grandchildren, Noelle and Simone.
• Pat, along with Terry will be laid to rest at the Aurora Cemetery this Spring.
• We miss her immensely and for those who would like, please consider making a donation in Pat’s name to honour her passion for tennis:
