I knew Mike from his days as a rookie with TPS. Going out to Purdy’s at the end of afternoon shift was always full of story swapping and camaraderie. Mike was always eager for tips on how to make our officer-dispatcher relationship run more smoothly, and in later days would always touch base every time he heard my voice. News of his loss is a gut punch, and my heart is with his wife and family. Rest easy, Mike. We’ve got it from here.

I really only knew Mike during high school but he was always a great friend. May his spirit travel well on this new journey.

From the Caetano and Carvalho families we are saddened to hear of Mike's passing. My heart goes out to Joy, Miranda and Justice. My father passed too young too and I can only imagine the heartache. I can tell you it will get better and I always have my dad close to me everyday. I still talk to him. Our thoughts are with your family too Charlie, Natalie, Lydell and Susana. It is with a heavy heart that I write these words. I am heartbroken that the world has lost such a fine man. I had the privilege of teaching and coaching a very enthusiastic, always smiling and the genuinely kind young man,Mike,at Newman High School years ago. His smile was contagious and my fondest memories of Mike are him on the volleyball court and his outstanding contributions to the Newman Athletic Association through his involvement in organizing and supervising tournaments, activity days, athletic assemblies and banquets. It was lovely to see Mike last summer and see the wonderful husband and father that he was. I will keep Mike, his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of dear Michael. I'm still in disbelief as I read this. Mike was one of the first friends that took me under his wing when I joined the Goretti Fam, when we were 9 years old. Shared many laughs as we graduated from Goretti and grew that Fam with our Newman Knights. The crazy memories we made just chilling in the LTD, at RPM, numerous pool halls, basketball courts, and golf courses. Rest in peace my brother, you'll be missed dearly...
