It is with heavy hearts the family of Don Bowen announce his passing at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 79. He will be forever cherished by his wife Gail Bowen (nee Reid). Don and Gail shared a beautiful marriage of 58 years together. Don will be deeply missed by his children Andy and Sherrie (Grant Wonnacott) Brown. Loved and incredibly proud grandpa of Jessie (Stephany), Daniel, and Sara. Loved great-grandfather to the first of his great-grandchildren, Ellie Bowen. Brother to the late Mary Hedger, David Bowen and Roger Bowen and son to the late Jessie Bowen. Don will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews. Especially to his niece Cathy Hedger who he shared a wonderful friendship with. Don’s family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital especially to the staff on 2B, Palliative Care and Dr. Emma Smith. Thank you for all your care and compassion in making Don’s final days comfortable. Cremation has taken place and at this time there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
My sincere condolences to the Bowen family on the passing of Don. I had the privilege of meeting Don while attending school in Toronto and staying with family at the Cobourg apartment. Always looked forward to the end of the day and having a cold refreshment on the lounge with Don and talking about our passion for ball. A true gentleman, may he Rest In Peace.

Gail, Andy and Sherrie, I was saddened to hear of Don's passing. He was a gentle man. We share a long history as I knew Donnie when I was a kid . He was friends with my older brother. I later met you Gail and we had babies together. I think at one point I even babysat Andy and Sherrie. I'm so glad you have them to support you during this difficult time. I think of you all fondly.
