It is with a sense of peace yet profound sadness that we share the passing of CAROL DIANE CHAPPLE (nee HAMILTON) in her 73rd year, born October 1, 1950. For the past two years Carol fought her cancer battle with strength and dignity. Her decline happened far too quickly for those of us who loved her. Carol passed peacefully after a brief stay at Ed’s House on February 10, 2023 with her husband Carl and her sisters by her side.
Carol was the loving wife of Carl Chapple for 30 years. She was the loving and proud mother of her daughter Amanda Mason (Kevin) and would have dearly loved the opportunity to have been mother to her predeceased infant son Christian. Carol was stepmom to Steve Chapple and Pam Sutherland.
Carol adored all of her grandchildren. She was the much loved “Mema” to Noah, Hudson, Harper-Grace and Chloe Mason and Grandma to Cal and Emily, Zachary. Lucan and Samantha; along with 4 great-grandchildren, Archer, Sophia, Jack and Emma.
Carol was the eldest of “Earl’s Girls” and was predeceased by her parents Earl and Pat Hamilton. She will forever be loved and missed by her sisters Judy Jones (Randy) Kathy Ambrosie (Frank) and Susan Hamilton (Dean McCubbin). Carol’s many nieces and nephews will remember her always with love and a smile. Carol had an incredible love for life and was up for any Kind of Adventure. She initiated a Sister’s Vacation to Vancouver June 2022 and we will forever treasurer the memories we made. Carol and Carl have a wonderful network of friends who helped and supported them both and for that we are truly grateful. Special thank you to Bob and Gail Latchford, who Carol thought of not only as a cousin but as a sister. Barry and Cheryl Turk, Wayne and Karen Jaynes, Pat and Jim Bracci, Reg Stanley and Bev Martin, Merle Carmichael and all her wonderful lady friends who accompanied her on many of her memorable adventures, as well as drove her to appointments or provided their true friendship.
Carol’s cremation took place at Mill Valley Funeral Home, Millbrook. For those wishing to make a donation in Carol’s memory, please consider Ed’s House or Sick Children’s Hospital. As a long-time member of The Grafton Legion’s Women’s Auxiliary, at Carol’s request, and in her words, her Happy Celebration, will take place at The Grafton Legion, Saturday, April 29th between 1 and 5 pm.

I miss her already. Christmas I would tease her with songs and poems on how I would have so much fish which she just loved to eat. The world just got a little sadder losing her sense of humour and heaven gets quite a card. Holly and I will always remember her and she had a special place in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and we shall never forget our dear cousin.

Judy and family, I am so sorry to learn of Carol’s passing. It has been many years since I last saw Carol but always remember the two of us playing in the backyard when I lived on Havelock Street and the Hamilton family lived on James Street with adjacent backyards. Our favourite activity was making mud pies. I am sure you and your families have many more great memories of Carol over the years. Again, so sorry for the loss of sister Carol.
